david_carnell
Nah - he adds nothing. Burrell and Barrit are both lumps who can run it up the middle and we have a mobile pack. Don't see the need for someone who isn't quick and can't pass. Take Slade instead. Alan Medic
http://www.superbru.com/rwc/This seems to be like a good idea. There are 3 options. I'm least in favour of the full on fantasy teams (the middle one). I'd plump for the prediction one on the left. Easy to do from what I've read and easy to run for a group.Anyone not happy with that? red devil
The Predictor option looks good to me.Will you be 'administering' the league, posting fixtures, latest tables etc?... Alan Medic
I haven't seen much of Burgess, but Bath won't play him in the centre. If I were a regular centre I might be a bit pee'd off to miss out on RWC to a 'blow in'. Alan Medic
I've put a link to the game in the original Rugby Matters thread to avoid this becoming a game thread as opposed to a RWC discussion one. Otta
Reading this has reminded me how totally out of touch with rugby I've become. It's the only sport I ever really excelled at playing, and I used to be quite a fan. And yet I've not watched a match in probably 5 years. Iain
Yep, come on Otta, get yourself down to watch KCH play - only on Turney Rd, not far from ED.Season starts on 19th September, with our 2s at home and the 1st XV away to Old Gravesendians. Most of the England matches and any convenient other games will be on the TV, friendly crowd (most of the time) if you like a rugby club / mixed sports club atmosphere. If you fancy a runout, we have a vet's team that have a couple or three games a season.www.kchrfc.co.uk Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-889333 Share on other sites
Phil.
I would imagine East Dulwich Tavern, The Cherry Tree and The Actress will all be showing RWC games. Is there anywhere in particular that people know of that will not only be showing the games but also getting into the RWc spirit??Cheers,Phil Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-889362 Share on other sites
Phil.
I'll be sure to don my Boks jersey and revel in the fact that I'll likely be the only Saffa supporter in ED! haha Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-889364 Share on other sites

Alan Medic
Only one. It's about time Ireland beat the AB's so turn that score around. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-889375 Share on other sites
Phil.
I'll be cheering for Ireland, Alan. But geez the well-oiled machine that is the All Blacks is in a league of its own! Alan Medic
They are but they were lucky to win last time round and that was at home. They are not unbeatable (apart from when they play Ireland). Still, one day.......... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-889380 Share on other sites

Better have another user name handy just in case. The game itself which I have now read a bit about, allows you to predict to your hearts content all 40 group games in advance if you want to. Phil.
Yeah good point but I do feel the ABs under Hansen are even better than they were under Henry. Would love to see an Ireland win - my Irish girlfriend would be over the moon. Where do you think will be some of the better pubs/venues in ED to watch cup games Alan? Alan Medic
I'm getting on Phil and rarely venture out. The Flying Pig is supposed to be good for rugby from what I've read. But no doubt other places will show it too and you will get better recommendations from others than me. david_carnell
The Jolly Woodman in Beckenham (a little far but not that bad) has a rugby-mad landlord so will no doubt be properly getting into the swing of things. Bob Buzzard
I've got tickets to see Italy trounce Canada on 26th Sept. at Elland Road. What's the best way to get to Leeds? Train or car? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70336-rugby-world-cup/page/2/#findComment-891682 Share on other sites
david_carnell
Tricky. Elland Road is to the south of Leeds so isn't necessary to engage the city centre but traffic on the M1 and A roads nearby can be murder. Train will take you into the city and then a short bus ride to the stadium. Might be more enjoyable and you don't have to worry about having a few pints of Tetleys.
