Yes. We should send them home to where they came from.

If their country of origin will not accept them we should declare war on that country.

The resulting war will then stimulate our job market.

This is ridiculous - people throwing all sorts of unsubstantiated slurs with no back up

First of all, when police are called to that houe, it's because "locals" have being getting their kicks from teasing the refugees. I used to live right near there and saw it many a time.

As for refugees "coming over here and taking our jobs/or doing fack all but taking our houses" - that debate has been had many times but if you believe that life is THAT simple then it's not worth engaging you in a debate tbh

Haven't we tried that a couple of times of late? Didn't seem to work; the evil and perfidious Capitalist Forces were hellbent on destroying the world banking system, regardless of the best efforts of Our Glorious Leader. Remember: it is / was not His fault!

Sorry, I've digressed.....

Yeah, I've lived pretty close to Barry House for 7yrs and the behaviour of the refugees has always been perfect. People seem to think that just because they often hang around then they must be "up to something", whereas the real reason that they congregate outside is because it is marginally less boring than sitting in a featureless bedsit by yourself (contrary to popular belief, refugees aren't immediately given a Sky HD + package).

Tiger Ranks, you are aware that refugees are not allowed to work as soon as they enter the country, that they have to be processed first?

I'll tell you what totally p*sses me off, the people who are profiting from the misery of these people ( i've seen really expensive cars parked in the drive, outside Barry house & I doubt that they belong to the 'freeloaders' ) & the idiots who whine about their tax money going on these free-loaders. most of my pals are foreign, all of them have degrees & none of them are free loaders. My ex is Colombian, she had a Masters degree in maths ( distinction ), she left a high ranking job in Colombia to travel & see the world, yet, due to a combination of cr*p visa laws & unfair xenophobia, had to work in a well known chain of stores as a manager for under ?10k per year, she actually had 2 jobs, she cleaned at the LSE ( illegally & was paid peanuts for it. ) Compare this to my English pal who earned more cash than her ( she worked in a similar shop ) & was as lazy as fk.

As for 'them' taking our jobs, I challenge u to spend a month cleaning toilets for peanuts.

Ps: at least my ex learnt how to use punctuation.

Do you really think that anyone would leave their home country deliberately so they can live in some hostel and get a couple of rides in a minibus? Shock horror, with tax payers money, blah blah.

    • I just checked the Southwark Council website and it stated:   All responses to the consultation will be recorded and a ‘consultation findings’ report will be published once feedback has been reviewed. The review process involves collating feedback from a number of council teams and external agencies - the aim will be to publish the report as soon as possible after the consultation has closed and no later than the 31 January 2026. The report will be published on this site. The use of bold type on the date is the Council's, not mine. They are late. I wonder why?
    • I would also like to recommend Leon, who completed an EICR inspection for us. He kept us informed of his arrival time on the day and arrived promptly as promised. He was knowledgeable and clear about what work was required. I would happily recommend him and would not hesitate to use his services again.
    • It's not far from Lordship Lane if you cut down Ashbourne Grove/Melbourne Grove. Depends where you start from, I guess!
    • I doubt if it was something special - it has been full a few times I've been recently and when I have been able to get a space I've been lucky and bagged the only one available. I think there are only around 15 general spaces. Others are for staff, blue badge holders or EVs. I guess in winter people are more likely to drive, it wouldn't take much to fill all the spaces with the different things going on at the surgery/pharmacy such as blood tests, picking up prescriptions. It's possible a lot of the cars are in and out in 15 mins, i've not monitored it closely. This morning with all spaces filled when I arrived there were a couple of cars loitering in the hope of a space becoming available. I didn't want to risk it. As has been said, you can drive in and out and be caught on camera and not get a ticket but I'm not sure what the grace period is, if there is one.  Like you, I don't think a significant number of people are parking there to go shopping - it's too far from Lordship Lane as I found out this morning when i had to run from LL to Tessa Jowell! i guess the car parking spaces just can't cope with the number of legit drivers using Tessa Jowell and if that's the case not a lot can be done about it.
