Anabel
My father, an avid tennis player, is coming to stay with my family in ED for 6 weeks. There is no way that he can go that long without playing. Can anyone recommend a tennis club in ED that may accept him as a temporary member and where he will be able to find people to play with? Is there anyone out there interested in a match? He's in his 60s but plays around 4 hours a day, every day and competes regularly. Also, he only speaks Spanish! (Tennis match/ conversation class?!) BrandNewGuy
North Dulwich Tennis Club is a friendly club, but not sure they offer temporary membership. You might need to drop them a line.http://northdulwichtennis.co.uk/index.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71733-tennis-in-east-dulwich/#findComment-891657 Share on other sites

Sue
There's also Camber Tennis Club, on the South Circular opposite the old Grove/Harvester pub building.http://www.tennis-at-camber.org/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71733-tennis-in-east-dulwich/#findComment-892385 Share on other sites
LondonMix
You can pay to play at the club near the railway arches in Dulwich Village. I took lessons there for a year with a coach without being a member. Its lovely there and not too far depending on where in ED you live. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71733-tennis-in-east-dulwich/#findComment-892439 Share on other sites

He arrives on Friday and we now have some good options so he will be very happy.Does anyone know if there is any system to using the courts in Dulwich park? Is it just first come, first served? JimmyMc1311
A little bit off topic (OK a lot), but I remember one Sunday afternoon during Wimbledon fortnight, we were sitting having a pint outside the Bishop. And a car slowed down in front of us. And in the back of the car was....."drum roll"....Maria Sharapova! ted17
You can book the courts in Brockwell Park in advance, unlike Dulwich Park. http://brockwellparkcommunitypartners.org.uk/sports-facilities/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71733-tennis-in-east-dulwich/#findComment-897673 Share on other sites
cfccfc2
North Dulwich should be able to accommodate, very friendly club from what I remember. And what's more, Carla, one of the committee/players, is Spanish. Perfecto!http://northdulwichtennis.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71733-tennis-in-east-dulwich/#findComment-897770 Share on other sites

handh
Spoit for choice for tennis clubs in this area, all nice in their own way, all offer lessons. Camber on the south circular and North Dulwich on East Dulwich Grove both friendly clubs but quite small. Big boy is Old College in the Village, lots of courts, very Dulwich. Then Dulwich Tennis Club in Herne Hill somewhere in between, lots of kids coaching. Try them all.
