School nursery and the not quite potty trained boy

Any experiences? My nearly 4 yr old starts in two weeks. I know the advice is that they be potty trained and independent but believe there are exclusion issues you can raise? My son has been in pants since April, fine on wees but regularly poos his pants (often twice a day). Not even looking for advice on that - tried everything, feel almost resigned to waiting it out ) - but don't want nursery to be a nightmare for him. It's 2.5 days as opposed to five half days so I'm realistic that it's going to come up...

I think this is not uncommon. My daughter went to nursery 3 days a week, and she had plenty of poo accidents. Argh! But we got through it. Sometimes being at nursery actually helps children potty train, because the group environment is very supportive. I would speak to your HV/GP and nursery about it and make a plan of action that everyone agrees on. xx

Well worth looking at eric.org.uk they've a "We need to talk about poo" campaign running at the

moment & engaging with his teachers/ask to have chance to discuss it with the sch nurses - the teachers are bound to be in from beginning of next wk so will be as to grab them before he starts back.

My son was quite well potty trained when he started pre school but went through a patch of pooing pants when he was quite constipated. Although staff were happy to deal with it/clean up etc, they pretty much just chucked all his poo pants in the bin - so maybe just a thought to buy loads of primark / cheap pants and send extras in for him?

Sorry no advice to add other than waiting it out. You might find he gets better, as at my son's pre school, they used to march the whole class to the loo twice per session.
