Fox in my house - Help!

I was told it was seen upstairs in the bathroom last week, while I was away, but I initailly found that a bit hard to believe. However, I've just seen it go out through the cat flap in the kitchen - cats went very quiet and I was curious - otherwise would not have heard it..

Seen it only recently around the gardens, as the fences are down due to renovations.

Very very worried - can lock the cat flap, but that's not really solving the problem as the cats can't go out.

It's not scared and hard to shoo away.

Advice needed - - I have kids so can't have it sneaking around inside at all!

(boyfriend wants to clobber it.....but I'm not sure I align with that.

Microchip the cats and get a lockable cat flap. It's the only way

Swap the cats for a pair of alsatians?

Any plants/sprays that foxes don't like but cats don't mind ?

It is probably looking for food - so I suppose you have to

hide all food (I'd find that difficult).

Neighbour had a similar problem, they're after the cat food, problem solved as per steveo's advice...

Buy some lions poo from london zoo and scatter it around your house. Apparently it works... No seriously do what Steveo said.
