Jeremy
The home-cooked vs restaurant debate doesn't really hold water for me when it comes to curry. Most of the Indian places locally are not "special treat" restaurants, they are the kind of places you go to if you can't be bothered to cook, want some grub to soak up the beer, or simply if you want to get out of the house and eat in a sociable environment. Michael Palaeologus
Surma still trades on th fact that it won an EDF award a number of years ago. Even the after-dinner chocolate wrappers mention it. Still roll on the new veggie Indian. Gimme
Cool. Personally, I'm not sure ED needs another Indian restaurant but Mrs Gimme is vegetarian so will be delighted. Annasfield
Really, really, really like the Dulwich Tandoori. The staff are lovely and always welcoming. The food is good too, we all know that English style Indian dishes are quite lame, but what they do, they do well.(tu) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7323-dulwich-tandoori-best-that-money-can-buy/page/2/#findComment-234371 Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
Punch did have a retaurant column in its second incarnarnation (Mohamed Fayed financed I think) and it was written at one point by 'Jono' Coleman. The column was nearly as good as his radio shows. ( Pls> insert a shruggin emoticon )I suppose on mature reflection I meant his breakfast show on London 94.9 was the filthiest assault upon my ears since I don't know when. And I've listened to Tony Blackburn, Noel Edmonds, DLT, Chris Evans etc et al.None have offended me more. The fact that he followed on from Danny 'The Candyman' Baker did him no favours, and of course comparisons were drawn, but he managed to create a limp dopey shitness of a show from minute one.The first time I've ever sent a complaint to a radio station. The first time I've ever sent a complaint to a radio station containing the word c*nt.The shrugging emoticon?Nah, you're alright. SeanMacGabhann
HlBI'm not joking when I say I whooped when I read that last postI don't know why I stuck with the station after that but never ever have I felt so faithless in the human race. making Joanne Good look like a towering intellectual is an achievement in itself I suppose but Jono Coleman is the living embodiment of ... nothingnessAnd he persuaded management to let him play music on a talk show, only to play the most asinine, cliched rubbish ever. And at 6:55am as well - gone but not forgotten Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7323-dulwich-tandoori-best-that-money-can-buy/page/2/#findComment-234862 Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
It was a grisly business all round SM and as you say not forgotten and definitely not forgiven.Jo Good has a certain appeal (and I may be influenced by the fact she has mentioned going to see Mott The Hoople in her youth) but she requires a good partner. So fine when she sharing a studio with Paul Ross or Baylen Leonard, not so good when lumbered with Rowland Rivron, what is he exactly?
