Sky signal blocked by scaffold - please vote on course of action you would take...

Recommended Posts

If you put up a large scaffold around your house and your neighbour told you it blocked their sky signal would you:

a) apologize and offer to pay for an engineer to fix their signal

b) ignore them

c) deny that your scaffold was the cause

Please vote now - I really want to know what most people would do

Thanks in advance

go with a).

It's the decent thing to do, they may have a legal claim against you if you have caused the problem and they could also cause trouble for your redevelopment.

The dish may just need a slight height adjustment to solve the issue but do shop around for engineers as they can vary in price/quality.

B) and c) probably a bit tricky to run now you've asked the question on a public forum

Is this some kind of passive agressive thing? You won't ask them for the money outright but you are hoping that they will see it on the forum and somehow be "shamed" into offering you the money?

If you really wAnt to get your money back, then you should just ask them directly. Otherwise probably best to just let it go.

d) This is a big city and this kind of thing happens all over said city (Google it) and it's only temporary after all and an inconvenience, I know, but if we had blocked light into a window and you had paid to have a series of mirrors rigged to get back that light I don't think you'd expect us to pay for it - you'd probably just moan and put up with it and wait for the scaff to come down and normality to be resumesd - like thousands of Londoners have done with scaffolding (for many may reaons) in the past and like they will do in the future. It IS a pain but really - that's life in town, kid.

This is definitely something you should make a big deal over.

I mean it's not as if you have to live next door to each other; see each other every day; hear each other over the fence / through the wall all the time .. or possibly have other neighbour-related issues that might need joint co-operation in the future which will in due course be influenced by you seething over not being able to watch Eggheads - so yes - it's absolutely vital for your own wellbeing and future happiness that you escalate this situation as early as possible.

The great news is that now you've started two threads about it on the local very well-read internet forum, they're guaranteed to have seen them both.

Congratulations - you are now officially 'at war' for the next ten years.
