Any electricians out there? Help needed

I have some builders in my home doing some renovation work (2 rooms being stripped back and re-fitted, one being a bathroom ? no extension or anything). As part of that work they have done some electrical work, which includes adding a couple of additional sockets, adding two spotlights in one room and replacing 4 spotlights with 2 wall lights, a pendant and a spotlight in the bathroom. The builder doing the work is not able to certify the electrics (i.e. he does electrical work but he is not a qualified electrician). They keep telling me it doesn't need to be certified as they have not added any circuits, they have run everything off the existing circuits as they didn't need to add anything. Is this correct?

Thank you so much to anyone who can advise....

work in the bathroom may need to be done by at least a Part P qualified electrician, it depends on what 'Zone' the work is in (ie how close to the bath or shower). Adding to circuits (as long as they are not in kitchens/bathrooms/outside) does not need the Part P qualification but personally I would be very dubious about any 'non qualified' electrician doing any work in my house. Builders who think the can do anything can be very dangerous - I learnt this the hard way years ago when a builder made some alterations to some gas pipes - they leaked and could have been deadly. If you employed them on the basis you thought they would be using electricians then I would insist they pay an electrician to test this
I agree with eastdulwichproperty and I always use my part p registered electrician for any work I do in clients houses especially bathrooms regardless if inknow im competant, there are many regulations that change often and only a registered electrician would keep up to date with this I think. A certificate of minor works is needed Im almost certain of this.
