you could get one of those pretend cats with big eyes, not to sure how good they are, or sprinkle pepper around - it irritates them but does no harm.

This seems to have worked for me, although I have got the cat a couple of times with the garden hose when it didn't see me coming as well. It's probably a mixture of the two to be honest.

The cat is a notoriously nosey animal. Always skulking around, interfering in other species' business. Two have pounced on me just this weekend. Luckily they were both de-clawed, so the worst that happened was essentially a surprise shiatzu. The second time put me right off the kebab I had found though.

May as well accept they are coming, and prepare to deal with them when they show up. If you're lucky enough to be a species that cats don't try to eat, you could try this delicious Beer BBQ Cat recipe:

My cat Hetty sees off other cats that enters her territory, not a lot out there that actually works my street seems to be Top Cat alley.
