Sam's Gutters (Croydon)

I recently received a compliment slip from SG offering to clean/repair gutters etc. The slip states that they are "proud members of checkatrade.com". I was tempted to use them and so phoned Checkatrade to verify SG's membership with them. According to Checkatrade, SG are "not registered with [us] and are using our logo fraudulently". Personally, I don't want to deal with such a company. Use them at your peril.

I've sent the slip to Checkatrade as they wish to take the matter up with Trading Standards, so I cannot now check. However, I do believe there was a smiley face on it.

Dear Laddy Muck,

Thank you for posting about us and Checkatrade.

This issue occurred because we cancelled our previous Checkatrade membership due to relocating our business. However, the leaflet distribution company we were using still had our old leaflets with the Checkatrade logo on it. As soon as we realised our mistake we cancelled the distribution of those leaflets.

We are now in the process of deciding whether to use Checkatrade again or another similar service for our new location. I hope this explains the situation well.

If you have any queries please contact us directly at [email protected] or via our free phone 08000789151.

Kind regards,

Harry

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.
