alleyns playing field dug up

Any one know what is happening to the playing fields opposite townly road and tennis courts they have bulldozed about half of it????

On the school side they are building a theatre with which I'm sure they will justify their charitable status by sharing with the local community........

According to the literature I have seen, they will be sharing the theatre with the community. Did you know that the National Youth Theatre began at Alleyn's?

I don't think it's the side of the school, its the green area that they used to play cricket on backing on to Colwell road, all dug up now with piles of earth

Apparently they are relaying the sports field so that they can in future be able to accommodate the 1st X! for football and cricket. The new building encroaches quite massively on those pitches, you see. That's all. It definitely isnt any new buildings apart from the theatre. The NYT are getting a rehearsal room they can use as part of the building. The NYT's founder used to teach english at Alleyns. he left in 1958 to start the NYT. Michael Croft is his name.
