Like, cool your boots, momma.

Gold Lee are hep cats and have probably taken the 'phone off the hook to partake of a little number or two before busting their collective hump catering to the needs of the local squid heads.

Don't get so frazzled you might work for the man, it don't mean you have to bring all that uptightness back to Casa Rosie.

It's bad for your chakra.

Switch off your mind and float downstream.

Give at least a ?1.50 tip.

Peace, baby.

I would have so hated living in the 60s.

You know what they say Moos, if you can't remember the sixties you're lying about your age.

Or something.

Not been checking the forum for a while but finally, amongst the boredom posters, attention seekers and idle banter we have an issue of utmost local importance - the best salt and chilli squid.

This classic British chinese dish is often on the takaway menu as a starter and comprises battered squid, rock salt and chopped red chilli often with some diced spring onions for good measure. The best is lightly crisp on the outside with tender (not rubbery) squid within and cooked fresh rather than heated up in the microwave.

Rosie - god bless you sister, for I share your affliction and have found an unlikely champion in Cafe Noodle by Franklins. It beats Mr Liu's and Gold Lee hands down BUT ONLY FOR CHILLI SQUID. I actually buy my S&C squid there before going to the mighty Liu's for everything else. Pick n mix chinese. Very important. Let me know what you think.

Soooo not cool, Moos. Going around punching people would have put you on the side of The Man. Female Division.

Did the hippies put their faces in front of billy clubs/gun butts, for nothing?

Did the yippies encourage book stealing/anarchy for the good of their health?

Did The Fugs deliberately not learn to play on the first rcord just to mess with us?

Answers; No; Maybe; It's The Fugs, it'll involve some sort of theory, so who knows?

Well now, they've only gone and hijacked it, but let me tell you MrBen, I am very excited at your news. I haven't yet had the good fortune to try it out, but let me assure you that I shall be doing so at the very first opportunity (it turned out, when I got off my lazy arse and walked round there, that Gold Lee were in fact open - maybe they just forgot to pay the phone bill).

I love the squid.

    • Agreed and in the meantime its "joe public" who has to pay through higher prices. We're talking all over the shop from food to insurance and everything in between.  And to add insult to injury they "hurt " their own voters/supporters through the actions they have taken. Sadly it gets to a stage where you start thinking about leaving London and even exiting the UK for good, but where to go????? Sad times now and ahead for at least the next 4yrs, hence why Govt and Local Authorities need to cut spending on all but essential services.  An immediate saving, all managerial and executive salaries cannot exceed and frozen at £50K Do away with the Mayor of London, the GLA and all the hanging on organisations, plus do away with borough mayors and the teams that serve them. All added beauracracy that can be dispensed with and will save £££££'s
    • The minimum wage hikes on top of the NICs increases have also caused vast swathes of unemployment.
    • Exactly - a snap election will make things even worse. Jazzer - say you get a 'new' administration tomorrow, you're still left with the same treasury, the same civil servants, the same OBR, the same think-tanks and advisors (many labour advisors are cross-party, Gauke for eg). The options are the same, no matter who's in power. Labour hasn't even changed the Tories' fiscal rules - the parties are virtually economically aligned these days.  But Reeves made a mistake in trying too hard, too early to make some seismic changes in her first budget as a big 'we're here and we're going to fix this mess, Labour to the rescue' kind of thing . They shone such a big light on the black hole that their only option was to try to fix it overnight. It was a comms clusterfuck.  They'd perhaps have done better sticking to Sunak's quiet, cautious approach, but they knew the gullible public was expecting an 24-hour turnaround miracle.  The NIC hikes are a disaster, I think they'll be reversed soon and enough and they'll keep trying till they find something that sticks.
    • Totally agree with you.  🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
