hi few years back i bought an old photo album/scrapbook with the london village players written on the front. Its old theatre photographs and programmes but ive not been able to find out anything about them, where they were based etc. is there any historians that might know more about them. just very curious.
Brian Greene at the Art stationers in the village may know. There used to be a local Amateur Dramatic Group, The Village Players who joined with the Dulwich Theatre Group about 40 years ago to form the Dulwich Players. The web site is dulwichplayers.org.uk. I am sure they would be very interested to see pictures. Some of the current members are well over 80 and may also know something about the album. Good luck
thanks for that thats brilliant, will try and get down to see him at some point. I bought it at a market as there was just something about it I didnt want to leave it there in amongst old books etc, wanted to know for ages more about them. thanks for the info.

    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
