Surely it must have been photoshopped???

Snakes evolved from lizards so should still have (now dormant) genes for arms and legs. This little fellow's claw is probably a throw back: a dormant limb gene that was inadvertently switched on during its development stage.

It reminds me of the picture of the huge snake which swallowed an alligator. A combination of the sheer size of the prey, and the fact that it may have been clawing from the inside, meant that it burst out from the middle of the snake. With very odd looking results. Perhaps this is something similar?
