There is a nice friendly lollipop lady on Camberwell Grove, who has been by McNeil Road for at least the last couple of years on school days. However, a number of months ago a pedestrian crossing was installed exactly where she works.

Even though this is in use, the lollipop lady is still there! It seems so pointless and a waste of money, particularly this week as the road is closed off for roadworks on railway bridge. There must be so many other roads/schools that would benefit from a lollipop lady (or by the looks of other posts, a parking monitor(!)... the poor woman looks bored out her mind!

There are actually two lollipop men working the Townley Road crossing and they take helpfulness to an extreme level. When they seem me approaching the crossing one of them will press the button so the green man appears at the optimum moment then walk into the middle of the road, brandishing his lollipop, to assist. Nice but odd.

    • Without doubt.. just seem to expect others or council to deal with it…no, don’t think it is that …just the fact that people these days are working hard, tired, stressed.. what were houses are now converted into flats…there is community spirit, well hope so.. neighbours hardly see one another, let alone know each other as work schedule is no longer 7/9 …only older more established people who have lived in area, and not making a quick buck, understand… people don’t even have the time to talk to neighbours unless annoyed or complaining.. when was the last time one smiled and said hello..or even started a conversation in a queue?

Can be weathered and old, or newer looking.    If you think you have something thatfits the  bill please PM me!    Photo of ideal chair attached.
    • Blimey, this has turned from celebrating a new and exciting Bagel business in East Dulwich to a Jeremy Corbyn experience very quickly.  Let's get back on point and welcome our soon to arrive business, I for one am looking forward to it.
    • I have been very impressed how often our street and all the ones near have been cleared of leaves and left very clean
