Croydon bus attack: Met police arrest 14-year-old girl over '87-year-old punched on bus'

Recommended Posts

Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl after an 87-year-old woman was allegedly punched in the face on a London bus.

CCTV footage was released earlier on Monday which appeared to show the elderly woman talking to two teenagers, who police said had boarded the bus without paying.

The elderly woman can be seen getting up out of her seat, after which one of the two girls appears to hit her in the face. Both girls then left the bus.

The victim received a black eye in what police called the "nasty attack on an elderly woman who just wanted to get home" and was taken by ambulance for treatment at St Helier Hospital after another passenger came to her aid.

In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said a female suspect had been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm (ABH).

"The 14 year-old female has been taken to a south London police station where she remains in custody," the spokesperson said.

Police said a second female had been identified by police but "she has not been arrested at this time"

I would like to see what there parents is going to if at all.

Bugger the parents. Who cares what they would say ?

These scum should be locked-up by the state. There is no excuse for what they did.

The relatives of the elderly lady should be left with the scum to do dish-out their own justice for 30 mins, to help the girls get some context on what it's like being punched in the face.

What goes through the mind of a young person who could (allegedly) punch a defenceless elderly person in the face? When I was that age I wouldn't dream of answering back to an adult let alone the unthinkable physical assault this lady endured. Absolute disgrace. I agree with KK, let these girls come face to face with the family of this elderly lady. See how brave they are then.

3 or 4 years ago a teenager spat right in my face. To this day I regret that I was so shocked I didn't grab him. Probably a good thing in that I'd have ended up in trouble, but what I wouldn't give to punch him square in the face.

So sorry to hear that Louisa, these sub-humans probably have grandmothers. Wouldn't it be odd if they got attacked?

Hate the fact some people feel the need to bring colour card in to this. I'm a black female and I want these girls punished and there parents too!

We have no way of knowing what was being said in the lead up this horrid act but the girls should have known better. It's shameful and sad. I wish the woman a speedy recovery.

I agree KidKurger-- from reading this thread I have no idea what race the attacker or victim are. I also agree its immaterial.

I've clicked the daily mail link and its about another story and the people involved are all white...

Quite right Jeremy - the article should have highlighted the fact that, after the attack, the pensioner still had one fully functioning and unmarked eye, giving hope and inspiration to indiscriminate attack victims everywhere.
I suppose it should have said 'dark bluey-purple,with burst blood vessels in the eyeball, soon to turn shades of yellow and green', like these injuries do.....and those of you that said 'parents' in the plural, are a bit optimistic...

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
