As it happens I was in the Dulwich Woodhouse pub yesterday and saw a flier that they're doing a Christmas Fayre, can't remember any more details than that, but think they were looking for sellers.


I'd not recommend going there for Sunday dinner mind, but that's not relevant to this thread!

HI Alethea


I am organising a Christmas Crafts Fair in Purley on 28th November as part of the full day's celebrations leading up to switching on the town's Christmas lights. It will be held at Purley United Reformed church, Brighton Road from 1-5pm. Stalls for hire cost ?25 for an eight foot table. This fair now has about 30 stalls, children's activities, refreshments and Father Christmas!! Our event will raise funds for the Relate Bursary Fund which assists couples, individuals and young people to receive counselling services at a reduced rate. Please let me know if you are interested.

There are lots here are some tips on finding them

Google PTA school dulwich - this should have result for the school in Dulwich, you then contact them and they should give an update on their Christmas dates


Dulwich College has one - Very very Sally is you point of contact

Try the local churchs they should have them too.

Brockley had one last year but IT RAINED I had a terrible time - i have a contact

Angela from SE magazine may know of some - contact the mag direct.

I am a trader on Lordship Lane, we are organising christmas festivities in Dulwich/East Dulwich, with Choirs, Santa's Grotto and late night shopping with treats for the customers. We are discussing adopt a stall outside various stores on the lane, If you are interested email me

Misty Moon Arts and Crafts Fair - 24th and 25th October, The Honor Oak, 1 St German's Rd, 1.00pm to 6 pm




Stalls include, jewellery, paintings using multi media, ceramics, cakes and chocolates, a photographer for your portraits, painted glassware, bespoke baby clothes, graphic design and illustrations, book art, greetings cards, aromotheraphies, candles, soaps and wedding invitations and much more. Come along and look at some wonderful crafts and art while having a pint or some lunch. Misty Moon will be back at The Honor Oak on the 28th and 29th November 2009 and the 19th and 20th December 2009. Tables are still available for these fairs, if you are interested please contact Stuart on 07960 993737 or by email on [email protected]. We will also be starting to sell raffle tickets for a fantastic prize of a week's accomodation in a luxury cottage in the Loire Valley, France. Tickets are ?2.00 each and the raffle will be drawn at The Honor Oak at The Misty Moon Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday the 20th December 2009.

      A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail.       Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?

      Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.

      Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
