Two things........Roy Keane apologised for what he said stating that at the age of 38 he still had a lot to learn. Secondly why would Sepp Blatter feel the need to phone Henry to absolve him of any blame and say it was the ref's fault. He's the president of an organisation purporting to encourage 'fair play'.

That said enough is enough FAI. They must know it would be impossible to facilitate another team in the WC so why bother asking?

If Ireland are so interested in "Fair Play" why did they not have the good grace to offer Georgia a replay? After all whats good for the Goose.........

Is your only objection that Roy Keane actually gave voice to what an awful lot of us were thinking. Time to move on.

True - but irrelevant. They went out because of the handball, not because of what may or may not have happened in a penalty shoot out.

Have I mentioned instant video-replays for referees?

I think you are missing the point Atila. The football world agreed that Thierry Henry had cheated Ireland out of a fair chance to qualify for the World Cup. The score in the match at the time is irrelevant. The referee did not see this, but the world did. The system needs to be rectified for the future (before it happens to England again maybe).

This is very different from a dubious penalty decision. Roy Keane is also missing the point.

What I'm agreeing with Roy Keane on is the "cap in hand" begging of the FAI. Which is embarrasing.

Give me strength it's not different the world saw that the non existent penalty was exactly that, FFS. What's different? None of your players, FAI, Irish Ofiicials thought you cheated Georgia out of THEIR place, so please don't try to take the moral high ground here. This is becoming most tiresome.

Well butt out then. No one asked you for your view on the matter. If it's so tiresome to you then go and annoy someone else with your petty arguements. As for the what's good for the goose remark, you could probably find a dozen reasons why the results of other qualifying matches could have been different. And Roy Keane telling the Irish to move on is rich coming from him as in the same interview he referred back to the 2002 WC where he felt he was hard done by.That's only 7 years ago.

It so happens that everything rested on THAT decision ultimately. For Blatter to hold the high ground regarding FIFA's fair play policy and admit to Henry he had cheated himself once upon a time (see the Telegraph today) stinks. And that idiot, his assistant or vice president from the WI's, Jack Warner, to now suddenly back England's WC bid is just as bad. Two weeks ago he was slating it. What planet are these people on?

Fact (to qoute RAFA BENITEZ) you're out. Georgia have every right to feel just aggrieved as the Irish, but they haven't been ripping their arses out.

Let it lie.

Gobshite eh?? What a cock.

Father MccGabhann, who was being offended? If you can't call someone a gob***** in this day and age without it being considered offensive then how can you insult them?

As for playing nicely or not playing at all..........do you want to take all of of the fun out of the forum?

    • I hope it's ok to use this thread to ask for advice on a separate issue in relation to TJ Medical Practice. A friend of mine who is registered there has recently been diagnosed with a serious long-term condition. He has been struggling to find a good GP at the practice since the departure of Dr Love and I said I would try to find out which of the remaining GPs other patients have found most capable and sympathetic - particularly for the scenario of overseeing ongoing care for a long-term progressive illness. Is there any particular GP that people would recommend?  Very many thanks.
    • I,m not a fan of Gales; but a lot of food serving premises open on Xmas day , so not unusual, worked in catering for nearly 40 years and staff usually get extra pay… My niece who is in her last year of college & wants to go travelling next summer, is waitressing in a restaurant near where she lives on Xmas day & Boxing Day for £20 per hour to boost her travelling fund. Back in the day I worked New Year’s Day 2000, & had my pay bumped to £50 per hour, happy days (wasn’t forced I volunteered)
    • Hardly strange; arcane perhaps. It used to be a common practice in many towns for the swings, roundabouts etc in parks to be chained up by the council on Sundays, so that they didn’t provide a source of reckless pleasure on the sabbath. The outrage that a cake shop should open on Christmas Day reminded me of this. The policy had pretty much died out in England and Wales by the 70’s but is still in force in parts of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
    • I would be interested to learn if Gail's hike their prices on Christmas day. I don't go to Gail's (as I prefer Christophers on HM Lane) but if anyone does go and detects a bit of price gouging, please let us all know.
