Free to a good home:History of Irish Tennis (3 Volumes)

It will take more than an Ikea wardrobe for me to part with 3 volumes of history. Besides, I bet the surface is scratched.

Only two sets? So not even best of three, or five in a Grand Slam. These sound more like Satellite Tour books, rather than the main event?

Well 3 months later and I now have the author's permission to give these sets away. This is because (unknown to you) I've being having a battle to get paid by a sports book store in Wimbledon who had quite a few copies. Thankfully they coughed up.

However, I won't just give them away unless I can find some connection between you and the books. So, if you have friends, relatives in some part of Ireland who might have had a tennis club near them (in the last 100 years or so), PM their location and name and I will see if I can find them in one of the volumes. There are over 3,000 photo's.

These are available for free to a good home. They are new. If you or any family members were ever associated with a tennis club in Ireland let me know the name and club. There are so many photographs someone related may be in them.

No hint Doc, simply curious. Personally, I'm not into tennis (Irish or otherwise) but the books do seem like a lovely gift for someone who is. Also, I am touched by your passion and this thread, and so if my curiosity plays a small part in them going to a truly good home then all well and good. As I said, not long till Christmas.

Clearly one was worse for wear after a few chocolate liqueurs too many! It's the backhand stroke that is given a boost, at least according to legend, or was that the history of Irish Golf?

Ahem, either way, tis criminal these hallowed volumes have yet to find a serious buyer!

I have also heard that merely by being in close vicinity to these tomes, one is able to find a reliable cat flap fitter, surely a power worth the price of them in and of itself?!

Well thanks for resurrecting the thread Laddy. It doesn't take long to sink in here. I did strangely get a PM not too long ago from someone claiming to be in Holland or Denmark asking for one of the volumes. When I asked why just one, I never got a reply.

They would be an excellent gift for someone with a connection to a tennis club in Ireland. The chances are there's a photo of someone they know in one of the volumes.
