I fail to understand why anyone would need Hog roast, hot dogs, Popcorn , Viet street food on Boxing Day.

.. or expect people to stand there in the cold waiting for people to arrive..

I would of thought that many stall holder might also want the day off to enjoy some time with their families..

Most people would of made arrangements and have enough food to last them over the Xmas period..

..but maybe might like to pop to the pub for a drink and meet up with friends if they are on there own like I will be...

Some might like a trip to B&Q. IKEA.. PC World..

I don't know.. perhaps there would be some that would take a stroll down North Cross.

Some people are just gratuitously rude, I'm afraid jds.

On that theme - DF - it is "I would HAVE thought that.." not "I would OF thought that..."

I suppose back in the good ole days the English teaching might not have been as good as it is now...

Back on the market theme, I hope it is open (at least some of it) as I will then have an excuse to get out and walk off some of the excesses of the day before.

Good point, robbin!

I was only asking if the market was open as I have family down for Christmas, and we all want to have a low-key Christmas for few days. Hence, the market will be ideal to escape the household madness for an hour or so! But apparently, according to MD, I need to get a life!

I suggest if the market is open on Boxing Day, MD should pop down and tell all the market-goers to "get a life". Or perhaps not as it's an easier option to hide one's face on the forum!

    • This is NEXT WEDNESDAY 11 June! Just turn up if you prefer not to give prior notice! The Palmerston from  7pm, turn left as you come in! (If you have been hiding under a rock, The Palmerston is the pub on Lordship Lane on the corner of North Cross Road).
    • Yes, at first I assumed that the bin men had taken flowering plants from my front garden while getting at my brown food bin, instead of reaching over the wall. I was very confused as I couldn't see any obvious gaps. Surely taking Toadflax from a resident's wall is not part of the council's remit? What next, are they going to come round and trim hedges in front gardens? 🤬
    • Oh, so that was the council.  Someone ripped some lovely flowering Toadflax from our wall and threw it in the gutter.  I assumed that a child had done it.  How strange?
    • Black open bag found on pavement on Goodrich Road this morning filled with electrical type items. Please message me if yours with description of what should be inside. Thanks
