I don't think it is sad, some people are looking forward to it, the young guy is a fireman and helping his mum out, she should get redundancy. This place is prime location for any business, but, it won't get snapped up, due to the landlord being an a*$^*^** or just too fussy.

Hah! The only good crip is a dead crip.

They have fantastic closing down offers. I got 10% off two packs of Kettle Chips bringing the price down to ?3.50!!!!

Then I found that Somerfield were selling 2 packs of Kettle Chips for ?2.

No wonder they are closing down...

Oh, that and the fact they sell cr*p wine at inflated prices.

On another note, the woman who worked there was very nice. Hope she finds something soon.

On yet another note, sincerely hope that it isn't a fast food joint or an estate agent or a bookmakers.

Please someone refer to the "What does ED lack?" thread (ignoring the sarcastic comments about needing another estate agent...) and open something that people actually want!

I think you're confused - anyone can open a shop, usually after a feasibility study --- if a fast-food store opens it's usually because someone's deemed it feasible that it might do well.

I don't think 'it fits in with someone off the internet's aspirational posts on a forum' is considered that often.

Is that a specific reference to the landlord there or a general thought about what might happen?

Well done. You've passed the course that teaches you to believe anything that anyone tells you.

Yes. Feasibility study. That's what people want. If it's feasible, people want it.

Business school. That's what they teach you. If it's possible, you can persuade people they want it no matter how cr@p it is. Great. Why would anyone pay any attention to aspirational internet posts when you could just open something feasible that is cr@p but that a feasibility study has proved that people are stupid enough to use if given the opportunity to do so and to avoid the alternative that may involve thinking or making an effort.

Looking forward to Subway or perhaps (if we're lucky) a feasible Poundland.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
