pencil sharpener / the other day i was sitting in my van at the bottom of dog kennel hill opposite shauns diy shop with a pencil and a sharpener doing what most people with these objects would do , yes your right i was sharpening my pencil .

i know its really shocking and now im full of remorse but its 100% true .

a woman rudley approached me from a nearby house waearing sandals and resembled a bulldog chewing a bee hive .

she told me to pick up the shavings to which i declined explaining its only tiny wood shavings and biodegradable , she then threatened me with the met police and a parking fine as she said she ownes the road .

please lady get a life there are some terrible things going on in this world more than enough to worry about tiny bits of wood , pine cones , conkers , branches and other debris fall from trees all the time in London did you know !

did you also know that pencils are made from trees ?

i look foward to your comments about my awful wrong doing

I thought that this was going to be a thread in why you can't get a decent sharpener any more. In the days of Sheffield steel they were great. Now they chew up your pencil, snap the lead, or in the case of plastic ones just break. And less and less decent Cumberland pencils around as we buy cheap shiite from abroad.

Same can be said about other items of stationary.

It all went down hill when we lost our empire.

To put things into context we've lost most of our manufacturing industry as it can be done better/cheaper abroad. But there are still wholesalers who must be specifying to the Chinese manufacturers they want cheap poor quality products, that due to the price tag people seem to still buy.

    • If you want to self cater and do it yourself, why not try one of the rooms in a church..  one I am thinking about has a huge room with kitchen and toilets… parking on site.. and another one worth considering is the church near Dulwich Library , top of Barry Road..  pm if you want more info and of course.. all the pubs on Lordship Lane. if you want further afield, Rosendale Pub has rooms above bar area that you can also hire…  Alleyns Head also good - section off a section of the pub for  your sole use and parking on site.. although, might not work if try want to dance and play there own music. Kingwood House might also be worth considering…

    • Hi. Trying to find a small venue for an 18th birthday, any suggestions? Everything’s really expensive.
    • Thank you both. That's really helpful. Will see if we have the budget left next year when we've finished some other work on the house, but would love to do this.
