I've not been back, but then I've had a full calendar of late, and I've considered nights off to also be nights away from pubs.

I'm looking forward to things returning to normality so I can enjoy a nice pint of ale there again.

Not been yet! I've been meaning to have a look in but I went once on a Monday night and it was closed and again on Wednesday afternoon- same problem.

Looks really nice inside though. Just haven't managed to get past peering in the window.

My own local is The Dark Horse- it's nice but a bit too posh for me - they serve your drinks at the table rather than the bar! ( No toilet attendant though *Bob*). I do go there to eat but for drinking I prefer the eclectic mix of characters found in the Hermit's Cave and if that closes, usually at about 1am, then I often venture on to the infamous Silver Buckle.

I also try to get to the Sun and Doves as often as I can because it is a great Camberwell institution. They have a regular jazz night on a Sunday and quite often Jamie Cullum does 'secret' gigs there. They also have a huge beer garden, good food and lots of interesting art.

Another place I should mention is The Grove on Camberwell Grove- again we go there for food in a child friendly environment with good ale.

Apart from these I do venture up the hill to the Canning - again for the food- and when my parents are here they like to drink in the Phoenix.

That is the point about the Ivanhoe- it is just on the fringe of the area I go out in and if it was open and served good food then I expect I'd go there quite frequently.

See, Camberwell does secret gigs but "East Dulwich" does secret pubs, Alan.

Hoopers man - I too would use your pub in the daytime if you opened. I spend a lot of time WFP in this area and Hoopers would be perfect. Especially with some food on (nothing fancy, decent bread/ cheese/ ham would do it).

No response?

    • Posted around 12 cards 2 weeks prior to 24th December. Had some responses so know people have received them. Had about 20 cards - mixture of hand delivered and via post. After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
    • There was a LETS scheme in ED and it ran for a couple of years or so. Trying to remember when it was pre 2000?  A couple of friends joined it, one did baby sitting for exchange for ironing, the other did small painting jobs or simple gardening. There was a set criteria regarding credits,
