I am sure that fellow users of this forum will be as shocked, horrified, disgusted, mortified and downright T'd-off as I was to hear that I have discovered a new music shop has opened in ED. This means that there are now TWO music shops in ED, a catastrophic state of affairs that will lead to devestation of the local economy, destruction of variety amongst local businesses and, quite possibly, a spiralling downturn in house prices!!! Indeed, it is fair to say that, for many, life may never be the same again.

I feel it is incumbent upon all responsible citizens and inhabitants of ED to assemble at the stroke of midnight in an unruly mob, armed with pitchforks and flaming torches, to advance upon the offending musical emporium with the intention of forcing the propretor to desist from trading forthwith. Are you with me?????

No but I am thinking of using fermenting plum juice from my garden to create bombs from sealed glass bottles. I am going to start an internet business selling them to rioting mobs across the world as an eco-friendly alternative to petrol bombs. I may even offer revolutionary organisations some kind of carbon offsetting scheme.

despite you taking the micky here of certain posts about shops not copying and selling the same product, I am sure deep down and considering your own trade (whatever that may be) that you realise that it aint nice to open up next door or near to a similar business. Disrespect and all that. This is a tight local community after all and not Tottenham Court Road. Someone mentioned on a previous post about the East Dulwich Mafia ( EDM). Does it really exist Dom???

    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
