It?s always been a pub. Youngs done one of their current style of refurbs on it about 18 months back. You know, like the one they did on the Clockhouse where they try to make their pubs look ?classy? but just end up turning them into expensive Wetherspoons.
Oh sorry, that was me being facetious. It does of course sell beer and is still a drinking establishment, but of course what was the bar area is now a restaurant. Those people that remember it as it was will know what I mean. Just wondered how popular it now is or whether it's a bit dead.

Are you sure Brendan that the front bit closest to the road is still the drinking area - this was the part that was changed into a restaurant because they completely removed the bar. If it is a drinking area again then this is music to my ears.

I had read the previous discussion but just wondered how the place was doing. I really miss the old pub:'(

    • Fired Earth as a whole went into administration unfortunately - doesn't seem to have been a Dulwich problem specifically. Does anyone know how much the rent is for these Dulwich Village storefronts?
    • It is most likely gas, with what looks like a stop cock, and although the pipe may well have been isolated later from the supply you should get in a gas safe engineer to remove it. At worst it might need to be capped off beneath the floor boards. Don't interfere with it yourself.
    • Sorry, I know this isn't strictly an East Dulwich topic but as there are so many late-Victorian properties in the area I wondered if anyone has seen anything similar in their house and can advise. We have what looks like an old gas outlet on the back wall of our daughter's bedroom which we'd like to remove, but we weren't sure whether it's safe to do so. Do I just call a registered gas engineer to check it out? And is it definitely a gas outlet or might it be something else? It's at floor level so maybe electricity but it doesn't look like any electricity outlet I've ever seen! Has anyone had any experience of dealing with something similar?
