Sounds better than X Factor any day of the week!!!!!

Don't remember all this fuss last year when people were trying to get Jeff Buckley to number 1

Although I was totally on board with that! Well, you know, on board in that I thought it would be nice if he got number 1, not that I actually bought the single, having paid for Grace, the overrated album, about 3 times.

I have to say, I still think that RATM album sounds great today. I'm not really in to this prank though, as basically it is counter productive, and SC will be loving it!

I also suspect that the guys who started this on FB, have very little idea about "the machine", and that in 10 years time, they'll be another cog in said machine, and living somewhere like Dulwich.

I've got a copy for him this Christmas. Wrapped up with a big lickery kiss.

It?s comes with a 300 page dissertation on Tom Morello?s influence on modern guitar playing and his role in brining the technical aspects of hardcore into the mainstream as well as why RATM were groundbreaking in mixing rap with hardcore rather than metal as so many had tried and failed during the ?80s.

My only complaint is the song choice itself.

Someone needs to have a word with Jon Morter's mentor (It was probably Louis).

Clearly he believes 'Killing In The Name' to be some sort of polar opposite to Joe McElderry's 'The Climb'. As it happens, they're simply two sides of the same musical dog chod - and given the choice I don't want either of them.

That said, if I were pushed, I'd choose the X-Factor single over Rage, because X-Factor has at least given me 50 hours of throwaway cosy winter gogglebox fun, whereas RATM have only mananged three minutes of shouty vegan sweary dreadlocked sulky teenage tedium.

No contest. And here's looking forward to X-Factor 2010.

I won't be buying it, I was never really into RATM... even when I was 15 I found them rather hypocritical and tedious.

But saying that, I like it as a way for people to collectively say that actually, Simon Cowell and Joe whassisname don't represent everyone's tastes in music (probably not even the majority). A lot of people are totally fed up with the dull routine of yet another talentless 18 year old singing bland cover versions.

That's well-put, Jezzer.. and I'm with you all the way.

But 'real music' ceased to have anything to do with the charts long ago, and chart sales themselves are virtually meaningless too now. There is no TOTP. It's over.

The Facebook campaign is a wistful pipedream. Nothing wrong with that. But the supreme irony is that the track that's been chosen to outwit Cowell's novelty X-Factor nonsense.. is actually a novelty record itself - only masquerading as something that's supposed to be all, like, important and stuff.

So the all-round message seems to be "You need a novelty angle and television exposure to sell bucketloads of singles".

Whoop-dee-doo.. what's new?

    • All, I have had bad experiences with scaffolders in the past. They have a hard job and sometimes damage your house by accident. The way they deal with it after this is usually what remains in their customers' minds...... and I have used a few different companies across last 12 years as a customer. I don't know if it is an exception, but I found LDS scaffolding's guys really good: Discrete, focused and on time. Their comms was ok. I have made sure I saved their contacts and will use them again. Prices felt fair. LEE GORE 07931642467  DEAN PRICE 07940531370  Olivier
    • I've sent an email to the council about it & other related issues, but I won't hold my breath. There's no representation from the council on site, so Gala can & will do whatever they want. Highly unlikely they'll ever be punished / fined because they've got the council under their thumb, and the council are so starved of funds they'd never risk biting the hand that feeds them.  Also worth noting that in the consultation findings report there's a statement in the section "If the event goes ahead" - "At least 28 days prior to event taking place / Resident information letter posted to properties around the park (giving confirmed event information and resident ‘hotline’ number)" Anyone received one of these yet? No? So are Gala in breach of the council's Outdoor Events Policy? Probably. Will there be any consequence? Nah. Lastly, image attached of the cherry tree in the SW corner of the site, with white lines sprayed on the grass presumably indicating the position of the (very high) metal wall. Looks like the branch might get in the way, however will they resolve that....?
    • Ryan Campbell (+44 7939 981908) from MS Heating and Plumbing was outstanding. When others, including Valliant, wouldn’t take on the job, Ryan stepped up and delivered expert boiler installation. His workmanship is top-notch, but what impressed me most was his follow-up and excellent network—reliable roofers and scaffolders made everything seamless. Price was competitive! Highly recommended! This is his card on the valliant site Master Tech!    His reviews on Checkatrade helped me making my decision to hire him! https://www.checkatrade.com/trades/msheatingandplumbing1057174 Olivier
    • Two Tuesdays ago, around 10:40,  I was walking up Greendale, still in the flattish bit, just before the first side paths, when I met a family of geese who were walking down the path in the opposite direction.  One adult at the front, accompanying maybe 8-10 little furballs, with a second bringing up the rear, honking loudly at about fifty to the minute. I moved out of their way and wondered what if anything to do.  A man who was walking behind them -- I didn't know whether with them -- mentioned the park, which did seem the obvious good and likely destination.  Wherever, they seemed to know what they were doing, and seemed to be getting on with it very well without any help at all, so I just stood there and wondered ... A couple of minutes later, no-one in sight.  A woman sitting outside JAGS said she'd seen a man/men who'd stopped the traffic on EDG so that the geese could cross safely, so well done them. Did the geese get to the park, or anywhere hospitable?  I was hoping and half expecting to read that they'd been seen arriving, but nothing here at all.
