I have a feeling looking at the planning pages for Rye Lane, many of the chicken, meat and fish shops will soon enough be confined to the past. The number of returbs and changes of use applications coming in to the council seem to suggest hyper gentrification, and from what is quite a low base in Peckham too. We will see. And yes mancity68 this new boozer is part of the antic pub group that owns 'the hope' and EDT.

We've got 'Dulwich Reclamation' now, where the Doorz shop was. Mind you the yard out the back is massive, so plenty of room to establish themselves

But Bose chicken is still there, and to be honest it's the best of them all. Nice and clean, bright and tasty chicken too (chicken fillet bun is my guilty pleasure)

But the Kirkdale Village bit is somewhat silly, too much traffic

Well the hyper gentrification Peter John and his Blairites together with the lib dems didnt give The Hope on Rye Lane a chance, nor The Bun House etc. Allowed the multi cultural working class pubs to be closed despite opposition and protest only to allow and encourage white middle class beard frequented pubs to open 5 minutes later. An absolute disgrace.

And anyone that uses the words belenden village are indeed bell ends.

There's a new pub up where the Red Cow used to be too.

Popped in briefly - but don't recall the prices.

  • 8 months later...

Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind me picking up on the original reason the thread was started - I was just wondering if anyone did had the contact details in the end, for the owner of Trio? I am interested in setting up something similar, having loved Trio and would really like to get their thoughts.

Any help much appreciated!

    • The published planning application proposal summary runs: "25/AP/1010  Installation of air source heat pumps; acoustic screening; pipework and trunking; replacement of radiators with air conditioning units; secondary glazing; replacement of non-original lantern roof; internal refurbishment including decoration, new fittings, toilets, kitchenettes, and remedial works to building fabric." https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=SU76HIKBJGS00 The officer's assessment includes mention of an external buggy store, which sounds a good idea if it's for use by visiting tots.  I remember one morning when I found the ground floor part-occupied by buggies, even in a few book bays.  🙂
    • Its good to hear concern for this amazing resource. If you ever visit you will find it full of Dulwich teenagers upstairs studying for exams, community is so vital for that generation. I am sure we dont want that to evaporate entirely. There is not much left. With all knowledge of the huge wealth that exists in the area, it would be so warm and rewarding for some of that to be passed to Dulwich library. The ground floor loos were returning to a state of nature itself. Moss was starting to grow.   X
    • The planned closure of Dulwich Library for over 6 months to refurb and change the heating seems odd. The description of works does not seems to align with the expected length of closure.  Some library authorities use shop fitters over December/January when they have no other work to undertake such library refurbs. The costs are especially keen as a result. And shop fitters are used to compressed time works. Win win.  I would hope the works involve using the vacant unused second floor. Perhaps relocating the first floor librarian back offices there to make a bigger user space on the first floor.
    • The consultation advertised as being last night Tuesday 18th, and to which our Councillor Renata Hamvas told me she was unable to attend, never happened because Events Team and Gala never showed up at Pod 1 Peckham Library. Cllr Hamvas is not supporting the 2nd weekend.  I then noticed in Southwark News the meeting is scheduled for tonight Wednesday 19th Nov 2025.  I can't attend. CllrVictoria Mills doesn't reply to my emails. Anyone able to go? I am unable to leave the house at this time.
