giggirl, 8 years as well. Smoked for around 16 years 20-40 cigs a day :-$:-S

I smoked from 13-40 and then gave up overnight and found it ok - I think deciding that I didn't want to die from smoking and 27 years was putting me in the 'when' rather than 'if' box sealed it for me. I just occasionally get a real strong craving at really odd times and places...not when I'm drinking funnily enough.
Quids if you're honest I reckon if you hadn't have had kids you'd probably still be smoking now. I can see that your priorities would have changed somewhat once the little darlings arrived. I've been inhaling since I was 12 and I enjoy smoking. If I didn't I'd give up. There are plenty of other things that are bad for us too.

Shame the OP left the thread while not remembering to answer this question, ah well.

For me, giving up had nothing to do with having kids, shamefully . Amongst other things, it was when i was waking up with no feeling in my hands and feet or bad 'pins and needles' in hands and feet, i knew circulation was affected. Some people can smoke forever and it not affect them, i werent one of them, otherwise id still be smoking because i did enjoy it .
