Hot sasperralla in East Lane market, that bought back some childhood memories....

There used to be a shop on Walworth Road on the left heading towards Camberwell, after Browing St, but before East St, I think, which I recall being so out of place.

It sold, what I guess I thought at the time was upmarket goods and furniture and it had wonderful carved chess sets in the window and what I realise now as pretty naff, an ornament with water running in droplets backlit.

I used to stand for what seemed hours looknig in the window, wanting one of the chess sets......

Cheers

I like this line;

Kings Collage Hospital ?were here luv?, the Conductor gets the pushchair and unfolds it in on the path,

It reminds me of being on the Routemaster buses when conductors used to take pushchairs out of the compartment by the exit(behind where they stood) and unfold it on the pavement for mothers......it's not as long ago as the trams but a nice memory.

    • Thanks Sue.  No the car just drove on.  We don't know if they noticed.  We were driving behind.  We were just glad we could be with the cat, and take him to the vet, rather than leaving him there 😞
    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
    • That was very kind of you to take the cat to the vet. Did the car not stop?
