Forum seems very slow at the moment....

Has there been some change? 'Upgrade'?

Possibly. According to our IT people the Internet keeps going down. I had no idea it was a) in England and b) so susceptible to snow.

Is there some IT equivalent of grit you can put on the Internet to make it work again?

I does seem slow but all systems are OK here. There were 3,600 visitors yesterday which the server should be able to handle, but we will keep an eye on it.

Maybe a large jump of people at home on the internet or working from home using remote longin/access, etc is loading things down a bit?

Ok, it definetly has been very slow over the last couple of days for me, lots of 'This site is taking too long to respond' errors. Other sites seem fine though, anyone else having issues?

Yes mine is very slow too...but, to be honest, I'd rather have a slow Forum than none at all...so I aint complainin.

I will ask our crack team of techies to optimise the database one night this week to see if that makes a difference.

KalamityKel, you maybe pleased to know that during the clean up we even linked the forum's internal time system to an external time source which means that a) it should keep time better and b) we do not have to change it manually when the clocks change.
