We live at the Plough end of Lordship Lane and have no cold water. Apparently there is a burst main in Oakhurst Grove which Thames Water only found out about an hour ago or so, and they are saying we may not have water until the morning. Not sure whether this is affecting all the streets between us and G Green?

Any more news gratefully received...

There has been two in Oakhurst, one that was resolved earlier this week (that had been reported for two weeks before anything was done) and now there is a new one which when I went by it this morning on my way to work the road was dug up, I had issues with the water in the shower this morning but the water was still running and Im about 4 houses from the main that is burst.

My bedroom overlooks the leak. Two chaps turned up at midnight with a small digger and ... dug.

One big hole and a fountain later, they set too and fixed it. Leaving a big but dry hole surrounded by some plasic fencing.

It was the middle of the night, pishing down with rain, water was coming upward at a rate of knots and it was cold, hats off to them.

    • Another recommendation for James - he helped us move house at short notice. He has a very big Luton van and he kindly helped us load and unload the van and was lovely to chat to for the hour long journey.
    • We used Joseph to move house and he was very communicative, punctual and was lovely to chat to during the journey! He was very patient when we arrived and the previous occupiers were still moving out, which was hugely appreciated! Would highly recommend.
    • Another glowing recommendation for Keith. We’re incredibly grateful to EDF for helping us find Keith - I had lots of other quotes from companies who were upselling the work we needed, whereas Keith was very friendly, honest, knowledgeable and competitively priced.  He was incredibly communicative through the whole job and carefully thought through his approach. He did lime mortar repointing along with some brick and masonry repairs, and did everything to a very high standard. We could absolutely trust his advice. He’s lovely to chat to and very respectful of neighbours, clearly communicating when there would be noise or mess. He organised the scaffolding company who were also excellent (Reliable Scaffolding). They worked around limited parking and were prompt to take down the scaffolding once the work was finished. The scaffolding was also much cheaper than other quotes.  Couldn’t recommend Keith enough, it’s a pleasure to have him working on the house and we already have him booked in to do another job for us.
    • If you mean the joinery firm that made windows and doors, it closed down several years ago and a private house was built on the site.
