Local EDF voting system

Can Admin set up a voting buttons system on discussion threads, so their can be some mechanism that allows participants a way of voting (like under Options in MS Outlook) so almost a local referendum can be completed. It would be really interesting to see this being available and also show the numbers, even better with little yes/no bar or pie chart graphs for and against different topics being discussed on here. I suppose the only proviso would be that you have to be registered on EDF for 12 months before you can participate and only one vote per user or username.

I have just turned on a module that allows me to add a poll to the first message on a thread. I have never used it before and it comes as-is out the box. I don't know if it works or is any good but we can see.

One issue is that people would have ask me to add a poll and I can't see me doing it too often.

The only problem I can see is that you can't change your vote afterwards after people have debated and you may have been swayed in your opinion.

So how does it work, how do we request a poll and who decides if we get one or not ?

Can it not be an option on the creation of the first message without having to request it ?
