Does anyone know what happened in Hansler Road last night?

There were a couple of loud bangs and some shouting at about 21:20 followed by a couple of men hurrying off up the street. Twentry minutes later there were police going door to door and a police cordon around one of the houses towards Lordship Lane.

The police put a note through the door last night telling us that a group of young people had entered a house on Hansler Road and attacked the occupants. They told us not be alarmed, as these types of crime are very rare and that we should contact them if we saw anything. Alarming.

Hansler Road full of chavs....oooh yes, that Fellbrigg Road too, packed to the rafters with Wrong 'uns....

I imagine they'll do more than just knock on the door, throw a kit at people, then go away. I'm guessing that that's almost a by product, the intention is to reassure people the police are around and aware of what's going on.

Of course, people who weren't aware of what happened could possibly decide they would have rather lived in blissful ignorance!

    • If you haven't already watched this totally shocking docudrama on Channel 4 then make sure you watch it and tell everyone you know to watch It It lays bare the scandalous, harmful and lethal  (in some cases) behaviour of the water companies since privatisation.  I for one didn't realise that the water companies pay the regulator/environment agency to regulate them in one mega conflict of interest.   This is as shocking as the post office/postmasters scandal with even more far reaching consequences.
    • We have been going to Franklins for many years. On the whole we have found both the food and service extremely good,  and good value for money, but there have been one or two low points, including unfortunately a very expensive but disappointing  meal with friends which I was paying for. I think it may depend on who is in the kitchen. We had a really excellent meal from their Christmas menu before Christmas this year, which for the quality of the food and cooking we didn't feel was expensive at all. I think it would be a real shame if it was turned into a pub. It isn't that kind of place. That's why we like it.
    • Surely if they had done that they would have taken responsibility for removing the car?
