Ugh - baby SB and I have some horrid bug I think. I thought he had 'teething' nappies the last couple of days but now I feel awful too...how to cope? He doesn't seem to want to curl up on the sofa and too young for cbeebies....I just had to resort to putting him in his cot to recover from a particularly potent nappy....argh!!

Entertainment ideas please!!

Good idea.

Also - with tummy upsets - it's ok to give milk yes? Apart from the gross nappies babySB seems fine (me not!) - but I remember sthg about not giving milk - this would be a nightmare! Should I keep offering food as normal?

Bleugh. Right - I've done what every self respecting adult does when times are hard - I've summoned my mother...

I was just about to say ring your Mum lol (unless you have my Mum in which case she is the last person you would want round).

Get her to take Baby SB out in the buggy for long walks (fresh air being good for them and all that) whilst whilst you lie on the sofa with chocolate/tea/daytime telly and feel sorry for yourself :)

Get better soon both x

Good move on the Mother front!

Yes, fine to keep on breastfeeding him - easiest thing to digest, but will be hard on you as you are going to be 'producing milk' without having much going into you to keep energy levels up. It made me very weak and wobbily when this happened so do try to take it easy.

Doctor says the best stuff is mashed potatoe, rice, pasta etc. for you and baby as and when you feel up to it. Oh or dry toast. Avoid other dairy stuff other than breast milk as the tummy bug 'feeds' on it in the gut.

Really hope this helps and that you both feel much better soon.

Any better today? Hope so. Is Mum with you now?

A friend who is a teacher said they had FIFTEEN children off with the vomiting bug yesterday - school in Camberwell. So, think we better all brace ourselves for a potentially nasty bug coming our way.

Molly

Bleugh still quite grim but have reinforcements of hubby/mum to help. I'm pretty much never ill so a bit of a shock. bubs seems fine apart from explosive nappies still.

Interestingly he ate a huge (for him) breakfast this morning - there can't have been as much milk on offer last night!! Must stop feeding through the night, must stop...

I think it just saps you completely when you have a tummy bug and your poor body is still trying to produce milk.

Really hope you feel better soon. I might be worth giving your doctor a call to see if they will 'phone and give you some advice on what you can eat, if you feel up to anything. I think it is what I said early, toast, mashed potatoe etc. but may have other ideas.

Oh, I was told flat coke is good too as it puts sugar back into your system, if you've got the shakes it will help a lot. But it must be flat, not fizzy. To do this quickly just pour it from one glass into another back and forth a few times and the fizz will be gone.

Take care, Molly

My Mum always used to give me Heinz Tomato soup with grated cheese on top and lucozade (flatish) if I was unwell. Oh and a crusty roll from the bakery with butter - ah for those days again. Agree with the flat Coke, also flat lemonade - it's something to do with the sugar, but also the additives which seem to destroy tummy bacteria (I think - happy to be told otherwise though).

I've managed to tear my calf muscle - doing nothing more impressive than putting Cassie onto our bed. So I'm laid up too - but for other reasons.

Are you having fun watching daytime TV?

Hi snowboarder - did your milk come back? My toddler and I now have 'the bug' (bleurggh) and the nurse at DMC recommended switching to bottle feeding our newborn so that she doesn't get the lurgy. And what with throwing up etc I've not been expressing. Am a bit worried now that I won't be able to bf after it's gone.

What do you think?

hiya - yeah I've managed to eat some more and milk seemed better last night/this morning - I think was just totally empty! I didn't stop feeding though and have been feeding the little monster for 10 months now so I suppose pretty established - not like newborn explody milk! Can't believe lurgy can be passed through your milk...nightmare!

Hope you feel better - I just had 1 to look after. Am sure will be ok if only a day or two....

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
