Apparently Alistair Darling has the veto on RBS bonuses.

But will he use it?

Well we were told things could only get better...for some.

Sly and Reggie with a new track "Lets Give The Bankers A Spanking"

Anyone going down to Speakers Corner this Sunday to hear Billy Bragg whoop it up?

Alistair Darling! why on earth did you not make it a condition

of the loan that no bonuses should be paid until said loan is paid off!!

We might have stood a better chance of recovering our taxes and avoided this

whole debacle from the outset.................

*shakes head in disbelief*

Because RBS (now a public "asset") would be left without any traders.

Nice idea though.

Theiving bastard bankers could be replaced by some of the more talented hard nosed Council Estate kids after a bit of training. How bloody hard can it be? If you need to be fearless, fast-thinking and ruthless, I could fill RBS with some of the kids I saw grow up on the Rockingham.

Just get the new ones to agree to a slary with no bonus, innit? Better for them than selling drugs or ducking and diving, but if they get uppity and want the fat bonuses, boot them out and bring in the fresh batch of newly trained estate kids!

In fact, since the universities have been pumping out way more law graduates than can get a job, newly qualified lawyers take much lower salaries than people realise. Maybe we should have banker degrees and subsidise the poor kids to get qualified. Just see how fast their salary will come down when you have a glut of qualified bankers looking for work!

There we go, i've solved the whole wanker banker crisis all by myself!

    • Until the licencing laws changed in the late eighties, pubs were only allowed to open Sunday hours on Christmas Day, so 12 'til 2, and the majority didn't open in the evening unless it was for a 'private party'. But that's another story. The landlord of my old local used to let everyone double or treble up at last orders so that you could avoid having to watch the Queen's Speech with your Nans at three o'clock. Dulwich Tandoori is open Christmas Day for those who don't fancy Gail's.  'Festive Flavours', apparently.
    • My nominations are the Goblin Band at the Goose, and the Errol Linton Trio  at the Dulwich Folk Club.  I'm not sure what other venues we have in the immediate area.  I rarely do the big (1000 plus) places any more.  Your nominations? And a special mention to Truthpaste, at least one member is local and their video was recorded around here.  But I caught them in North London.  And please see the link to the BBCs recording of the Copper Family at the Castle a few weeks ago~: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002ng53
