Anyone been to Sharm El Sheikh? We're off for 10 days, me and the Mrs and the little one (4). Just wondering what to do about money. We're B&B. Neither of us dive but we'll snorkel.

Anyone recently been with an idea of costs and the most convenient way to take money / pay for things? I thought maybe take some Egyption pounds for the airport / getting there and the first couple of days, then get cash from ATMs (the card we have has low costs - for a credit card - for money abroad). Is that sensible? Any idea of costs also much appreciated.

Also also, any recommendations on things to do etc.

Thanks

The last time I went I didn't bother getting Egyptian pounds till we got there - used ATM at Sharm airport. You don't get a great exchange rate in the UK I found.

I've always stayed near the main town, so you can walk in there for dinner. Fantastic choice of excellent places to eat in Sharm (I mean Naama Bay which is the main tourist area). If you're not there, you'll have to get a taxi.

Have you looked at Trip Advisor website? There is loads of good advice there, particularly if you look at the Sharm forum there.

If you like I could recommend some places in Naama Bay.

Been there many times. Cashpoints all over these days.

Take a day trip out to snorkel (remember the beach is sandy, ie not a snorkelling spot!)

there are hotels closer to the reef if yo're not booked already

qu7ad biking in the desert is fun

therwise, it all revolves round the sea

    • It didn't occur to me to ask. No idea if dieticians are employed within the NHS. It is just one line of enquiry among others. The GP mentioned it, not me.
    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
