Thought I'd pass on this info as a while back we were all lamenting the lack of places to go and have a drink/lunch/coffee w hilst letting our kids have a play. Was in the Florence in Herne Hill yesterday (sister pub of the Bishop) and loads of work was going on at the back, in the conservatory. The manager explained that they are creating a big playroom for babies/kids, with soft play and a screen for cbeebies etc, meanwhile there'll be an adjacent bit for mums to enjoy a drink and keep an eye on babies. I quite often walk over there to meet friends so am thrilled and both pubs do a 'mums the word' card which entitles you to various discounts, which change each month. I think he's going to email me about suggestions for what they might include in the room so if anyone has any ideas, I can post the details here for who to send it to.

Note - I don't have any connection to these pubs! Just really pleased to hear about somewhere suitable for crawlers and up...

Hi Belle,

The email should be winging its way to you today, but to save you the trouble, I thought that I would post it here also.

This month sees work begin on the long awaited Children?s Play Room at The Florence.

This room has been designed and built to provide a secure environment for your children to play in, while you can chat with friends, or even keep an eye on them from the garden with a glass of wine through the glass windows.

We have a few ideas of what we think would be good to put in the room, but you are the experts, so we need your help.

Does anyone have any ideas of things they would like to have in the room? Are there any groups who might like to book to use the room on a regular basis? Would you be interested in holding kids parties in there?

All comments and suggestions are welcomed, in helping us to make the most of the great space which we are building.

The work should take about 8 weeks to complete, but we will keep you posted as to when the grand opening will be.

Anyone can get hold of a "mums the word" card by popping into the Bishop or the Florence with a child in tow (preferably your own). If you have any suggestions for the kids play room, or for more details, please email [email protected]

Look forward to seeing you all. Notifications about the status of the build, and its grand opening will be emailed to all members and posted on this site.

I am going to post to this old thread and watch to see if it's lounged or deleted as posts I made earlier today seem to have been!

Had a very very salty meal at the Florence today, and oru complaint was met with indifference. I would't recommend the food there for children at all, if it's typical. Ours wouldn't eat it, yet we still got charged ?4 per meal, in one case it had only started as a mushroom and a bit of toast in the first place!

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
    • I'm not talking about Starmer. I was responding to a post which  said that  Corbyn was unelectable. How people voted in the "more hotly contested election" is irrelevant. Corbyn wasn't leading the Labour Party then. Starmer was. And the turnout for Labour reflects that.
