Tube rage

Hello I turn into a monster as soon as I get anywhere near a tube station. I am usually happy and relaxed but lately I've been getting into tube mischief. I know it is entirely my fault and I should not go grabbing and harassing passengers but I just see red and do crazy things. A couple of weeks ago I grabbed a man because he got onto the tube before people got off and he nearly hit me because I wouldn't let go - bad! So I thought this had made me see sense but alas today I shuved a woman back onto the platform because she was trying to get on before anyone had got off. I am in no way violent or angry in other parts of my life. I know tubes make people generally annoyed but does anyone else take things too far? I think my new years resolution might have to be giving up the tube.

P.S. I'm 5'4" with dark brown hair just so you can avoid me on the jubilee line - I'm fine with overland trains.

Hiya,

I became like this momentarily purely because i was peeved off with commuters getting on the train even though I was there first, then there was elbow room barging, eveil eyes amongst girls, huffing and puffing, stinky smokers ah the list was endless - i hated everyone on 'my train' ha ha - I dont know what got into me too but i did have a reality check and thought 'just be nice' and rise aboveit....about a week jeez!. It really did get my goat and does still but i dont think being physical is gonna help however light the force - if that makes any sence.

I hope you feel better, i'm sure you will - eat chocolate, have sex, excersize and get your frustrations out :)

Bear in mind pregnant people out there (including me) so be careful who you may barge....even though you can't see the bump...

Sophie I really think you should take a chill pill because you will mess with the wrong person and someone somewhere will smack you in the mouth for your trouble. Seriously. If someone physically put their hands on me, no matter how justified they felt in doing so, I would not be best pleased and I don't know how I would react.

Sorry to state the obvious but this is a big city with millions of people and somehow we all need to rub along together on tubes and buses and whatever. It is often frustrating, especially as some people have no manners. But just let it go. Be a bigger person.

You say this is a recent thing so maybe it's a sign that you're tired and need a break. I hope you're getting one soon. Jubilee line you say?

Thanks silverfox and newbie

I mainly only get angry when there's lots of room on the tube and people get on before everyone is off even though there's no hurry. Weirdly I don't get angry when it's crowded - I guess I'm concentrating on staying upright then or reading my book in someones smelly armpit.

You are right though newbie, that's what I thought after I shuved the lady today. If she'd then fallen over because of me and was pregnant - it's awful to think about and I am going to try my hardest not do anything similar again. My problem is I get angry when people are unnecessarily rude/thoughtless but clearly me being even more rude is not going to help the situation at all/

It's been done. In the 80s there was "tube theatre" where you followed a group of performers around from train to train whilst they instigated various conversations / arguments with passengers along the way. It was a great idea. Ripe for someone to revive it now.

Dear Sophie,

Lots of people using the tube are tourists and may not have a clue about tube etiquette or even the obvious by-laws. If you see someone smoking they either don?t know the rules (being a tourist) or they are mad.

It?s also a very dangerous place. The power rails have 640V DC and the running rails have 130V AC either of which could kill. How would you feel if you pushed someone and they fell down the gap between the train and the platform and either got electrocuted or had a limb cut off?

Oops spoofed again.

The Sloane Square one was mentioned during the NME/Clash interview EP with Tony Parsons.

Though given the times I'm betting the opening hours and sevice were short, grudging and unpleasant.

I have the same rage, over buses & with trains! Why do people do this? Why are people in such a rush to get on?! Am I missing something here? It's not like the train/bus is gonna go without them - idiots.

I can sure come out with alot of rage for a 5ft2, tiny-framed 19 year old! I went nuts when I witnesses this big black guy barging past a small blind guy trying to get onto the bus. I couldn't believe what I was seeing infront of my eyes! I HAD to say something!

Passive aggressive then.

It will get you into further trouble, you just don't know who will retaliate & to what extent. Make changes to where you stand however hard that is & don't police the doors, I have seen some very nasty reactions on the tube & at 5ft 4 you may not come out unscathed next time
