  3. My husband asked a nurse for some paracetemol for his headache while I was in 2nd stage labour.
  4. I friend of mine does exactly this - she has made stuff for my kids and my Neice. She knits and sews to order. You can see loads of her work and contact her via her blog which is http://poshyarns.blogspot.com/
  5. Maybe Lady Gaga's got the right idea all round re skin problems - a jolly song and this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://gagafashionland.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/lady-gaga-hotel-gluttony.jpg&imgrefurl=http://gagafashionland.com/category/mask/page/3/&usg=__92pFaaLFrSbANzR8hbBDC6fGtYc=&h=601&w=414&sz=64&hl=en&start=48&zoom=1&tbnid=5kflS70ihGs7RM:&tbnh=149&tbnw=100&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlady%2Bgaga%2Bmask%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1R2GPEA_en%26biw%3D1579%26bih%3D671%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C1060&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=231&vpy=289&dur=5000&hovh=271&hovw=186&tx=111&ty=176&ei=VWALTaubLOGH4gbguL38DA&oei=HGALTb6ZBpSxhQe2pJG2Cw&esq=4&page=3&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:48&biw=1579&bih=671 most effective concealer.;-)
  6. Pizza face? - isnt that a song by Lady Gaga?
  7. Really worth trying transfering from from pram to cot while asleep - I bet your LO stays fast asleep!!! I bet you get away with it most of the time.
  8. siomcc - definately after - in child world you cant celebrate being and age until you actually reach it!!!! PS one of my children's birthday is on NYs day, and we have often take a few of her friends to the panto late in Jan as a birthday treat instead of a party.... that has worked quite well.
  9. I went back to full time work when my eldest 2 were 4 months old, (I cant beleive I did that now!) and have been a SAHM since having numbers 3 and 4. From the childrens point of view, I think their experiences have been equally rich whether I was the primary carer or not. I feel equally connected with all of them, and feel confident that they all have had a happy babyhood. I really enjoyed a fulfilling career, and have also really enjoyed being a domestic mum. Funnily enough, I think that in some ways, leaving them as they get older can trickier - their needs are more complicated than when they were infants (no longer just food, rest and love)and it takes more work and time to be tuned into them and understand what they may need help with (friendships, learning, self worth etc etc) It sounds to me that you want to go back to work but the hours of the job you have been offered are too demanding...surely there are other jobs out there - couldn't you hang on until something with shorter or fewer days turns up? Best of luck with your choice, you sound like such a loving mum that I'm sure your kids will be fine with whatever your decision - just make sure that it works for you too.
  10. Here is link to siomcc's song Better, By Tom Baxter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_h_wZQjVvY Lovely choice. Molly - I dont know abot sillywoman, but my girls love to see me cry during "slipping through my fingers" they think its hysterical and always turn the lights up in the film so that I can't get away with a sneaky snivvle. Grrr!
  11. Have an official birthday in the summer - do his party then, when everyone is longing for a knees-up and will be glad to give him presents. Thats what my friend doeswhos birthday is on Xmas day.
  12. My financial situation, I guess, was a factor in deciding how many children to have, but not by any means the primary one. The main factor was a visceral and undeniable longing for them to come into being. That's probably the same thing as selfishness.
  13. Thanks Andy, it's so nice to hear a human voice from with the Sainsburys machine, thanks for taking action and keeping us updated.
  14. ....good idea though as they did damage my doubles connector thingies, I had to replace them when I got back.
  15. Super congratulations Ruth, I'm so happy for you. Dont worry about stuff like how will everyone get around - I wish I could tell you some magical knack but the truth is you'll all just muddle through. Anyway, a walking toddler is no more or less trouble than a non walking one. In both instances you'll sometimes just have to scoop both your kids up to get everyone travelling in the same direction!
  16. Cath kidston or paperchase stationery, bath bombs from lush, hot water bottles and super fluffy bed socks, "Now thats what I call music 77"
  17. 2 of my kids didnt walk until after 18 months. It was, as mellors says, very wearysome carrying a giant toddler - especially at one time I had a newborn as well as the non toddling toddler (15 month gap, yikes!)- but on the upside, I did get some excellent upper arm toning! Also wanted to add that neither of my "late" walkers seem to be developmentally any different from my other 2, I think they just had bigger heads so were a little more top heavy!!! I wonder if one of those toddler trampolines that you can get that they hold on to a bar and bounce on would get his leg strength up...or you could just wait it out....
  18. Yes, I took my P and T to the gate with BA on a trip to US - no probs

    X Factor

    Love this xfactor liveblog, http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2010/dec/03/x-factor-results-club-classics-week
  20. I think its not great for an 11 year old girl as its too expensive and fragile to lug around. Most kids need to carry their reading books around with them to school and back, on journeys, overnight trips etc etc. itunes voucher or top shop voucher is always safe, as is anything from paperchase, or a funky cushion for their bed.
  21. Ive met lots of people who regret putting a stop to their family, but I have never met a family who regreted having one of their children. I often think "I wish I could afford to travel overseas with my whole family", but Ive never once wished that I had one or two less kids so that it would actually be possible! Best of luck with the decision making.
  22. Excellent choice Prm, I'd forgotten about Come What May, I dare not click on link as it's very likely to reduce me to tears. Also Steph's Precious Little Diamond is lyrically perfect, but has the added dimension of the crazy 80' pop spectatcular that is the video - it made me warm and fuzzy and laugh at the same time!
  23. How about this one My husband and I have sung it to all the children at one time or another - Its a real case of romantic lyrics being entirely fitting parental love. The opening lyrics are perfect. "The night we met I knew I'd needed you so, And if I had the chance I'd never let you go" (Also its good and repetitive in the middle section which has been very useful over the years for sleep deprived distraction!)
  24. Fantastic. So erudite. Knocks my Bruno Mars link into a cocked hat!
  25. ...both lovely songs. I can never hear this without filling up..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNaNVuWes_U
