They get wet, I take them home where its warm, and dry them off. To leave a wet shivering dog tied up in the cold is not good. They cannot run around to keep warmer. I will only use the cafe in the warm weather when I can get served through the serving hatch and sit with my dogs. Its "normal" for them to be outside on a walk, but not to be left outside. In my opinion.

Your Labrador, Springer Spaniel etc may be quite happy to jump in water, roll in s**t etc, but there are certain breeds that do not tolerate the cold and do feel the cold. Especially Toy breeds. Long or short coated.
  14. I don't see why I can't take my dogs inside. They are very well behaved. I don't see why we should have to sit out in the cold and I've said it before, but I won't tie my dogs outside anywhere. If we were in France or Belgium or the Hague etc, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. I went to a cafe in France on the way (driving) to Nice, and didn't even realise that their were dogs in the cafe. They get used to it and it becomes a way of life to them. A friend of mine used to live in the Hague. When visiting him, his dog came EVERYWHERE with us. It was never an issue. I've seen the dogs tied up in the rain outside the cafe, I too think its cruel. Fur coat or not, they still feel the cold, especially if they are wet. Its not on.
  15. Hi all. This actually happened on Monday 19th Nov at approx 9.10am. Apparently, she was walking along in the rain and 2 men attacked from behind hitting and kicking her and her dog:X As Huggers said her dog bit one of them and they ran off. As far as I know it wasn't reported to the police, but I informed the park managers on finding this out yesterday morning. If I found out who this lady is, I will try to get her to report it. All I know is that they were 2 black men, thats it for now. Hope she and her dog are ok
  16. There is a very scared German Shepherd running loose today. It has a muzzle and coke chain on and looks young. It was running too and fro on Forest Hill Rd at lunch time and has been spotted in Upland Rd this afternoon. The poor thing is very, very scared and will be hard to catch. If anyone knows who this dog belongs to, please let them know that it has been seen. I hope it gets home safe and sound:(
  17. A young very frightened German Shepherd has been sighted today running across Forest Hill Rd and within the last 30 mins up Upland Rd. It is wearing a muzzle and is very frightened:( Hope he'll be ok:( probably not the same dog(?)

They have been going off around here for weeks now:X
  19. Whilst I wish the cafe folk every success, and it is a great addition etc, I'm afraid that I won't use it in the winter as I have dogs. I'm not going to pay the same price for a coffee or food (thats going to get cold real quick because I have to sit outside) as the people inside who are sitting in the warm(!) I will not tie my dogs up outside, anywhere, also I don't mind children, but their are far too many inside for me. Which leads me on to my request. Could we in the summer months, please have a child free area on the grass to the right of the cafe as if you were outside looking at it? We could sit on the chairs without worrying about parents letting their little ones wander over willy nilly with our four legged friends. My dogs are very well behaved and always accompany me to the pub etc.
  20. Darcy is home! She was found and taken to battersea and is safe and sound at home! YIPPEE:))
