  1. Hear, hear to all these positive posts.
  2. Sorry to say that my daughter had chicekn pox when she was 2 and is now 20. She had large pox (rather than small ones whcih my son had and which didn't scar, or at least the scars faded) and some of the scars came off. They still show to this day - on her shoulders which is a shame. If I had known about available creams at the time, I would have used them religiously.
  3. Our insurance company has told us that we need to have a burglar alarm professionally installed. It has to be monitored and linked so that it calls me if it goes off. Any recommendations?

  5. Panasonic- home bread much healthier than shop bought. You can reduce the salt and sugar content.
  6. Can I just add, for my daughter's second birthday I organised a clown party, which I thought everyone would love. It turned out she was terrified and now, aged 20, has a genuine clown phobia, hard to believe but true. I wish I'd saved the ?100 or whatever and just done pass the parcel and high sugar quotient tea. Beware you young parents....
  7. I do a tesco shop once very 10 days - 2 weeks. Generally there are 5 or so crates. The guy has to come up 6 steps and then bring into my kitchen. In the past I have not tipped, but then I noticed that my husband (who always pays the takeaway delivery guy) pays him ?3-5 around about10%. Tonight I gave the Tesco guy ?2 on a ?113 shop. This was all the cash I had in my purse. So, question: was it too much, too little, unnecessary? Please let me know what you do, so I can get it right.

  9. My neighbour told me there was a crash at the junction of Upland road, by Barry's minimart, with 5 police cars in attendance. Anyone know anything?
  10. SusyP, just thinking about your dilemma about getting away from school without having to walk home with other mother and daughter - what about cycling? Then you could just whizz off...
  11. My husband put a blackboard panel on our kitchen door (I think it was paint) and we all love it. Not dusty or glossy - just like a normal blackboard. Highly recommended.
  12. I don't even know where the nearest police station is any more. I hear LL PS is beign turned into a Waitrose.
  13. Prickle - why did you feel you were gullible? You bought the bench at a price you felt was reasonable and you are pleased with it. What's wrong with that? i bought some duvets and pillows about 10 years ago, when they were being hawked round offies in the west end. I checked the quality, thought it was a good price and bought them. I have been using them ever since... Why do we all have to be so super-suspicious...
  14. Giles Davies is another great acupuncturist in Barry road who i know is very experienced in bringing late babies on.
  15. Thanks StraferJack and Penguin68. That makes sense. I still have doubts, that with the Ritzy and Peckhamplex just a bus ride away, the likelihood of a similar cinema being a viable business proposition in ED is slight, particularly as there is no appropriate space. Not sure that telling Wetherspoons in FH to move out would work - and that is, again, a bus ride away.
  16. I don't understand this: people keep on asking for a small Indie-type cinema and IngridB keeps on telling us that ED has one already, but that people aren't using it. She has asked for people to recommend films. It sounds great and is cheap - why not use it????
  17. I can't believe that the noise levels over East Dulwich are sufficent to cause "raised levels of stress, increased blood pressure and mental health effects" in children.
  18. I thought SuperManny's comments, which he obviously took much time over were very useful, and his book suggestions excellent. I have two children (now at university) and am/was a working mother and will freely admit that there were many times that i found parenting a challenge - and at other times a joy. Advice, of the nature that SM gave, helped me a lot through difficult moments.
  19. Porridge and fruit is a very healthy breakfast - better than ready brek. Why would you want to change it?
