  1. Thanks for these links Fuschia. I will go to Pretty T and to ED Deli and see what they have.
  2. Does anyone have beehives locally? The lavender in our front garden is attracting loads of bees and butterflies this summer. I wonder if these bees are from local hives, if so, I would love to buy some local honey....
  3. So am I a "peasant" if I don't have a landscaped garden?
  4. What a lovely thing to do, I really enjoyed your video! Happy birthday X
  5. Try acupuncturist Giles Davies on 07739 414210. He has had success with this.
  6. Don't get Ana Audu A4 for family use, it is surprisingly small.
  7. I recommend the Dulwich foot clinic opposite Dulwich Library.
  8. I had badly aching joints a couple of years ago, mainly in the morning, although not from breast feeing. We bought a memory foam mattress, and I sleep really well now. Not sure this helps, but it made a huge difference to me.
  9. I echo the big fridge with tiny freezer. We went for Miele, a great brand and overall a nice big size. But the freezer is far too small. Very annoying. We went for a zinc work top, which was expensive, but given that our kitchen refit was just painting our ikea cupboards and replacing tiles, we felt we could justify it. We are very pleased with it indeed.
  10. A real guilty pleasure I have is lying in bed all day, reading a book, listening to the radio, fiddling around on the inetnet, snoozing and being REALLY lazy. No-one knows you're doign it except you and you can really revel in the sheer decadence. Make sure you put your best sheets on the bed the day before and have lots of pillows, maybe a half bottle of champagne or prosecco around lunch time? Whatever you to decide to do, I hope you have a lovely time, you deserve it.
  11. Thank you Pipsky you clearly know what you are talking about. Thank you for replying. I don't completely get your explanation, but basically appreciate that it takes a while for the trees to gather themselves together before they get going again. This is fine by me, if it is in the long term interest of the trees. Again, I am no expert, just worried. What I would have liked was an explanation and reassurance from those who undertook this work as to what we could expect. For me, the Barry Road "boulevard" (tree-lined road), is a much loved East Dulwich feature and it is deeply distressing to see it ravaged and have no idea if what has been done is a) incompetent butchery or b) excellent strategic tree maintenance that will enhance the longevity of these well loved trees... Could a council spokesperson reassure us?
  12. I went to a charity evening in Honor Oak this week along with quite a few others who had travellend by car (terrible rain). I had to park on the main road, rememberign this thread, I didn't half park on the pavement. As I was walking away, the resulting narrowness of the road meant that with two buses approaching from either direction, there was a massive hold up, traffic jam, hotting, beeping and general commotion... Would it have been better and mroe community-minded to put half my car on the pavement. I think, yes - so long as there was enough room for buggies and wheelchairs to pass. But I didn't, and was the cause of a major traffic incident.
  13. Angel Upholstery are excellent.
  14. IngridB, respect - I don't know how you have managed to organise all this amazing street art, but we in ED are so lucky to be benefiting from it. Ignore all the nitpickers, I think most of us here are so thrilled that these artists are using their skills in our "modest" suburb. We are very lucky to have such inspirational people contibuting to our community.
  15. Vandalism? I hope not.
  16. Sorry to bang on about this, but I don't think we have heard from any professional tree surgeons or their informed spokesperson. To my eyes, the trees look little different, bar one or two leaves, from when I first posted. My very uneducated prognosis is that they won't be in full leaf this summer in the way that we anticipated. If this is because next year, they will be really healthy and in a great state, fine, but I would really like to know, when they were pollarded in full leaf in August 2012, what were the expectations. Someone should know and should be able to put our minds at rest.
  17. I am soooo impressed. The mural is absolutely wonderful. Do go and see it if you haven't already. Conor Harrington is an amazing artist - better than Banksy. We are so lucky in ED to have this piece of art work. Yet another thing to be proud of. Really well done Conor - you are fabulous.
  18. If he is a calm and sensible child, he will be fine. If he is more sensitive and "unsteady", it might be too early. Are you concerned about him or yourself? If the latter, then let him stay. if the former, probably too much of a challenge. There are bound to be other opportunities...
  19. SPurling road mural is AMAZING!
  20. I saw that as I cycled home this evening w at about 6pm. The cherry picker seemed to be on hire, but looked expensive, and he appeared to engaged on quite a large and ambitious - and from what i saw, impressive, piece of work. Can't wait to see the progress tomorrow morning. Is this the same wall that the 1985 piece was painted on? If so, how nice....
  21. Thank you for your positive and confident post Pipsky2008, that gives me hope, I would have no issue with pollarding if I were confident that we are going to have our wonderful Barry road trees looking magnificent again very soon. My husband hates the fact that car looks a mess under the leafy trees, but so what - clean it, or provide employment to others to clean your car. Fingers crossed in three weeks we'll all be much happier.
  22. Leaves seem to be appearing out of the trunk.. Mmm, not sure that's a good sign. Anyway fingers crossed. I am sure the qualified surgeons knew what they were doing - no irony intended.
  23. We talked earlier this year about the major pollarding works on the wonderful Barry road trees. I am in no way an expert and really want to hear from someone who is. Most of the other trees around are in leaf, but these ones aren't. Can someone put my mind at rest that they haven't been so traumatised that our road will look like the aftermath of the Somme all year round?
