  1. So Mr/Mrs Rockets. You are against all Low Traffic Neighborhoods. So you should not vote Tory as this is their policy. The assumption is therefore that you supported the status quo where car was king. We'll I'm not with you on this but I appreciate your honesty.
  2. I'd happily see Canada Geese, parakeets and grey squirels culled. Of course I am selective, these species do far more damage than Egyptian geese and we have adopted many species over the centuries.
  3. It's good to have a sense of Ballance rather than talking of banning. No matter how good your regulations are, there will be some that don't follow by accident, ignorance or just don't care. Tens of millions of birds are killed each year by drivers/cars and by cats. I doubt whether many are calling for bans on these. It is sad news, but I think in previous years rats took the goslings, I'd start there
  4. A summary is that the local Torries failed to address the need to radically reduce private car use, or acknowledge that it was their PM that introduced the concept, including the rapid role out. Not sure what the Lib Dems stand for. Greens make good points but again the failure is with central government, the Tories having been in power for 12 years, but we are now in the world of gesture politics. I expect Labour saw this as a single issue, and it is obvious what their position is.
  5. Funny how the term defend the indefensible was used today in parliament. Either politicians are tuning into the forum, or/and they are fans if 5 Live's Fighting talk
  6. Three pubs I don't and won't miss. All great examples of how to ruin decent boozer. Herne is the best of the three.

Trouble with foreigners is that you never know if they are hot blooded or cold as ice
  8. I'm a little lost. Why are you planning to give your estranged kid a sports car? Sounds more Hollywood than SE22 to me. More appropriate/sensible things, a lap top or tablet for example? Sorry if I have misunderstood.
  9. Sweeping statement about cyclists and insurance. Joining LCC, British Cycling and the like includes various insurance, eg LCC third party cover. Uninsured claims, usually drivers as I expect most don't stop at accidents, covered under Motor insurance Bureau
  10. If you are unhappy with the service complain to the practice and/or ask for a second opinion
  11. There is a fine line between humour and rude. You've just crossed it. I'd apologise. Edited, or better still just delete the offensive sentence.
  12. I repeat Mr/Mrs Rockets, open your mind and go and talk with them rather than just using snippets of news to support your entrenched views. This echoes posts that I and others have made elsewhere on this forum. I look forward to hearing how this goes!
  13. I suggest go down for a chat with them Mr/Mrs Rockets. Challenge your views and theirs. And report back.

One would expect that they tested this proposal first, focus groups, surveys and the like. It is usual for this government also to leak a little to the right wing media too. One could also ask whether it came from the PM, Home Sec, and advisor. To me it feels like Nazi Germany. I was going to post earlier but felt I would offend. On further consideration I still feel this way. I can't recall anything so wrong from my government in my lifetime. Apologies for my Frank views.
  15. Just found the term deadcatting on wiki. Not in the OED but surely soon
  16. It's the party of truth. Oh and Law and order. As exemplified by their leader.
  17. I used to work near the original one in Victoria, nice and quirky. It stunned me in recent years how much colleagues used the local branch, some two or three times a day. We had many great independent bcafes in the area; virtually the only time I use them is at airports being much better value than most other outlets. Perhaps someone can explain the Pavlov's dog response by many to Pret
  18. If you had half an ounce of integrity you would resign. No doubt you hope that the Chancellor's family's financial matters and a timely visit to Ukraine are enough of a distraction.
  19. Seems to be going the same way as the vote them out thread, which has been moved to the lounge. I'll repeat my earlier comments about not voting on single issues and considering the national as well as local record.
  20. Mr/Mrs Rockets, do watch to the Caroline Lucas interview, reasonably reflected in the article. She was broadly supportive of XR, reflecting the frustration over lack of substantial action to tackle the climate emergency. This thread has debated both pro and con XR and had some great debate.
  21. Are you planning to paint over the ULEZ cameras?
  22. Stay on thread Heart block or the thought police will get you.... But some interesting views. When new Labour got in they introduced the term stakeholder ie looking for buy in. Wouldn't it be good to have those with all interests sitting around the table, at a national level, to agree how we tackle road emissions, both pollution and CO2
  23. Do you have anything to add to the debate? My post was in good humour by also with a tinge of truth. Many are worked up and spend hours on this thread. It is good to channel some if of your energies into positive action.
