The 12 terminates at the top of Barry Road and there are no significant hills or slopes between Peckham Rye and there. Pissed off this AM in Barry Road, no 12s or 197s running up there, and yes I checked the TFL site to see if they were diverted - nada. The 363s were running down there but were not stopping, presumably because they were on diversion, at last one driver who presumably had kept a little of the sense he was born with, kindly stopped and picked us up, got to Peckham and it was not too bad after that. Just miffed (and that's all) about the web site not giving proper info. I shall be firing off a stinging rebuke to them when I return to my garrett

His 'racism' if that what it is - is probably a result of growing up in a fairly monocultural world - I went past the old civic centre on the Old Kent Road today (next to Topps Tiles / B&Q) and there is a mural celebrating the life of the area and ends with Pearly Kings and Queens as celebration of the area. Looks quaint and old fashioned by today?s standards and not a multicultural reference in sight. No spellcheckers on typewriters I'm afraid

Does anybody know who puts up these typewritten state of the nation pieces about the decline of the UK and sticks them on bus shelters around ED - sounds and feels like an OAP who is losing it - tempted to carry my camera around and photo them and put them up on the internet - which is what it was invented for - ranting into the ether so at least he would get a bigger audience. Apparently the answer is to write to the Queen and express our displeasure at the decline. If only it were that simple ... Very touching in a sad,poignant life drifting away sort of way. P.S Saw the whistler on Peckham Rye today - whistling away into the wind .....

I suppose the question that should be asked is this level of crime 'normal' the background noise to living in a major city or is an upward trend being discerned. I have lived in ED for over 20 years and travel daily on the 12 bus to the Victoria area - the amount of police crime scenes I pass has noticeably gone up in the last year or two - in fact went to B&Q on the Old Kent Road and passed the night club which is next to MacDonalds closed off with police tape and a forensic team on the scene. Sadly I would say a battle is being lost and whilst we can say the two recent murders in Barry Road were targeted rather than random - they are still 2 murders on our doorstep and the degree of anti social behaviour - well we just turn our heads away and don't look them in the eyes.... Some commentators have said we have brought forward up to 20 years of consumption - the problem is credit it?s that we are saturated with credit and our leaders want to keep the party going with a continuation of this madness. The financials took over the system and have literally run it into the ground. Globalization ? pah we can?t compete with Chinese workers with no employment rights working for $80 a month and living 8 to a 1 bed apartment and with hope in their hearts. A whole generation ruined ? it really is amazing that there weren?t tumultuous riots last week. They?re debauching the currency, looting the pensions, and ravaging savings to keep the party and the financial oligarchy going ? wake up folks ? the middle classes are being sacrificed here, we are eating the seed corn. Can ED escape the carnage ? of course not ? none of us can. .
