One of my more distant ancestors was a bloke called John Bradshaw. He presided over the trial of Charles I and was the first to sign his death warrant. He died before the restoration, but they exhumed his body and chopped him up for good measure. I think they may have stuck his head on a spike too. Shall have a hunt around to see what else I can find. Edit: OK, seems the chopping up and head-on-a-spike were probably down to my imagination. The first three sources here agree that he was disinterred and plonked in a gibbet in Tyburn. Wikipedia has him hung, drawn and quartered though.
