  1. It's call Punk me up -just near Goose Green playground where they can play first. Benches for you to sit down on too :) Also, the French house on Lordship Lane does have a play part downstairs but it may be more for younger kids. It will probably amuse her enough for you to have a coffee! Peckham soft play could be an option. They have on the hour sessions. Both libraries often have child sessions too. ED tots is a good place to get more info and the Hoop app if you have access to it If all else fails go to the pound shops and let them choose some craft activities for them to do at home. AJ Farmer on Lordship Lane also have a few cheap ish crafts to buy
  2. I think there was one on Thursday too as police were door to door knocking on Adys and Ondine.
  3. We had the same but it's got lots better since we filled the gaps in our hallway wooden floors. We also added a draft excluder to the door to the cupboard under the stairs (inside so not to see it). Maybe you could carpet the floor in the cupboard too if you have any cut offs.
  4. I recently used LMS Gas services in Forest Hill. Was very impressed with their knowledge. We had similar issues. A man called Mel came out to see us. They don't charge if no work needs to be done. Please say that I (Catherine near St John's School) recommended them.
  5. very happy with our asguard. Worth looking at their ranges
  6. For nannies and childminders it now seems to range from ?10 -?14 an hour plus a taxi / uber home if needed
  7. Hello Worth having a look at this thread for opinions on St Johns http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1883433,1886729#msg-1886729 My daughter is in year one and my youngest will be also starting this year. We are very happy. It's a lovely school with a great community feel. We were fortunate and were in a good catchment for 3 or 4 schools but we like SJSC the best for its diversity, community feel and it's space. We also liked the fact that it wasn't focused on one area of learning but had strengths across key subjects plus music, arts and sports etc We are not religious but I think the fact it is a religious school can put people off. Although I am not religious I do like the structure that it gives the kids. Its a good grounding for behaviour and attitude to others. I certainly don't feel like it's over religious though. Having the playground next door is also a massive plus as it's feels like an extension of the school for the kids and us parents. Nice to wander over after school for them to let off steam and us to catch up Feel free to PM me any questions. I am sure you will be happy whichever school you go for
  8. I totally agree with E2 on SJSC. We had the same choice as you Sunglasses as fortunately we were in a good street for multiple catchments. We were torn between the Belham and SJSC. Both fantastic schools (we are lucky to have so many good ones nearby) but I preferred SJSC. A lot of it is down to your own instinct and you need to judge based on your own children, but I felt SJSC offered a really well rounded education and a nuturing environment. I loved the music, sport and art facilities not to mention the large playground and forest school. It is also very representative of the local area which I felt was important. All reception children learn sign language too as it has a fantastic deaf unit. All in all we are really happy with our decision and think it's a lovely school with a great PTFA and parent community. I am also not religious but I feel that the religion does give the school a nice structure and good underlying values of kindness, honesty and respect etc. My child also doesn't come home talking about religion. She does love the singing in assemblies though! My friend's child came home saying the world was created by Adam and Steve which I thought was hilarious -they obviously do teach all versions of creation! The head is new and I don't think public speaking is his forte but I agree that he is making some great changes. Do PM me if you have any specific questions x
  9. I haven't read the other posts from Floradix is amazing stuff. It really does make a difference
  10. We debated on this and ended up with gas. I much prefer gas. We did however get our builders to put an electric line in just in case we changed our minds in the future. It didn't cost us anything. Maybe worth considering for anyone undecided
  11. We have also recently finished a kitchen extension with Plus Rooms. We had several quotes prior to appointing Plus Rooms and went with them as they seemed the most professional and gave us far more detail than any other company. What we especially liked was the full list of contingencies that were presented before work commenced. Unfortunately we did hit a lot of these, largely due to the age of our property, but there were no nasty surprises about which we had not been forewarned We'd had a loft conversion at the same propery 18 months prior to the kithcen. Having had a pretty poor experience with the loft build what we also liked was the fact that Plus Rooms were hot on communication. Our emails and calls were answered swiftly by either our PM or the head builder. Work was also signed off on a weekly basis which meant that time scales and detail were kept as planned - despite us adding in a few more jobs. The electricians and plumbers were also excellent. Plus Rooms electrician actually had to redo a lot of work carried out by Wren kitchens (our advice is do not use Wren kitchens ? but that?s a whole other story!) Overall the project had a few bumps along the way which were not unexpected but everything was addressed swiftly and professionally and we are very happy with the end result. We would recommend Plus Rooms.
  12. Have you tried searching for this on the forum. Heaps of discussions of places already which is why maybe you didn't get too many answers at first?
  13. I was excused twice from jury service. First time my child was very young and second time due to the fact there childcare allowance didn't cover my childcare costs. You should be fine to be excused.
  14. Just wanted to recommend 123Matt who is a local carpenter. I needed some doors trimmed down asap yesterday and he managed to fit us in at the last minute. Our house is a typical wonky victorian terrance but he did a great job. Punctual, polite and very tidy. His number is 07450129994
  15. Any recommendations please? We don't want to pay a full day rate x
  16. hello I am looking for a woodworm expert to come and survey what we suspect is woodworm damage. Please do send me your recommendations Many thanks
  17. That's good to hear. We are going this year too. My daughter is in reception so first time - Thanks
  18. Hello Am looking for a ceiling fan which we can put flush on our ceiling over our kitchen island. We don't have much room in between our joists and ceiling so am hoping for some recommendations of which make and model people have used please. I have seen a couple but they would mean either boxing it in or lowering the ceilings Thanks Catherine
  19. Lots of ideas if you search on family holidays in the family discussion room
  20. There are lots of other holidays clubs offered too. My daughter who is also at St Johns spent some time at Nimble Arts this half term and loved it. A few children from SJSC were also there. If you search Holiday clubs on this forum a few options should come up x
  21. I am so glad Brierley still exist. They are amazing. I was with them both times. First time we tried at home but had to go into hospital but they came with me. The second time I managed at home and Brierley made it a truly great experience. If you can home birth I really would. Kings is so close if you need to transfer
