  1. Hi everyone, Just to remind people that the first session of the children's Italian group will be this Monday 13th Aug at 4.30pm at my house. Please reply via private message if interested and I will send you my address. Hope to see you there! Thanks! Debs
  2. Hi all, Grazia, Adriana and I met this morning to set up the language group. We are going to have a weekly drop-in play session with toys, stories, rhymes etc from 4.30pm, finishing by 5.30pm. The first session will be hosted in my house on Danecroft Road on Mon 13th August (but the date can be changed if people can't make it). All are welcome! Please PM me for exact address. Thanks, Debs
  3. Another recommendation for Shaun - he was able to offer me a next day appointment when I contacted him one evening with an urgent request to get a certificate for the electrical works that had been done by builders four years previously, because we are selling our property. He was polite, reliable, punctual (arrived a few minutes early actually) and tested the electrics quickly and efficiently and issued the certificate on the spot. He took the time to explain clearly when I asked some questions. I also think he only charged us for the cost of the certificate, as other electricians had quoted a higher price. I would definitely make him your first port of call - he is on 07974 943346.
  4. I strongly recommend my cleaner. She does a weekly clean for us and has never let us down in the 2+ years we've had her. She works with a friend to get the job done in half the time. Over the summer I asked her to do Spring Clean which she did thoroughly and efficiently. Additionally I said she could rearrange the furniture as she saw fit, to get our flat to 'work' better now that we've got children. I was very impressed with the results. She charged me ?10 per hour. Her husband runs their little cleaning business and his contact email address is [email protected]. Her name is Be and her mobile number is 07951 992403 Good luck

  9. Hi all, Just to let you know I went into labour shortly after meeting up on Tue and had my 9lb 3oz boy on Wed at 7am at Kings. Couldn't believe the size! Hope to see you all in not too long, D
  10. Hi Guys, I'd like to come along too today, with toddler and 8 days late bump! I did make it to the Plough on Fri just after 11am but didn't recognise anyone that i had met last time (that was about 4 weeks ago, at Luca's on Mrs F's due date) so left after a bit (although I did meet a lady with a newborn in a sling looking for someone named Alexa.....) Anyway, hope to meet today in the Arboretum from 10/10.30 onwards? And is that Peckham Rye common? Thanks, D
  11. Sex! (for the prostaglandins in sperm on your cervix and the contractions of your uterus during orgasm)
  12. Hi everyone, I'm new and would like to join you tomorrow from 10 at Luca's. I have a 16 month old (who won't be with me tomorrow) and my 2nd baby is due at the end of April. Hope it's OK to gatecrash! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,
  13. Don't forget cotton wool for nappy changes Maternity sanitary towels for yourself a dim light for night time feeds - as dim as you can (it's surprising how bright a light can seem in the middle of the night) but enough to be able to see clearly to help your baby latch on to the breast. Glad I didn't buy: A 'purpose built' swaddling blanket - a spare Moses basket sheet (or was it a cot sheet?) folded once into a triangle did just fine for me, and besides, I only swaddled at night for maybe 2-3 weeks max.
  14. Ruth, where did you try the Hammerhead?! Where is it sold? Debs
  15. Does anyone have experience of this rather freakish looking version of the Phil and Ted's, or is there a reason why I've never seen one on the streets or in the shops? From what I can glean, it is like the Explorer but with two wheels close together at the front rather than one. I thought it would be more stable when getting on buses etc so have decided to buy this model...... ......unless anyone knows a reason why not........ Any opinions? Thanks, Debs
  16. Hi all, I'd like your opinions as I'm buying a tandem buggy to use when my second baby is born in 3 months' time (older child will be 17 months). After a little looking around I had decided on a Phil and Teds - but then I saw in a forgotten corner of John Lewis the Safety First Duodeal tandem. I had a demo and was impressed. No seats to clip/unclip, back seat reclines fully for newborn, both seats can recline even when both occupied, seats are one behind another rather than one underneath the other like the P&T's, it is the same length and slightly narrower than the P&T's (although feels a bit longer as it doesn't taper at the front as it is a 4-wheeler), it folds without having to remove any seats, and it is ONLY ?139 new including raincover, no extra bits to have to buy. Basically what I'm wondering is, what is the catch? It seems to have better features than the P&T's but has anyone out there actually used it and put it to the test? Opinions gratefully received, Debs
  17. Thank you very much everybody for the reassurance!
  18. Hi there, does anybody know/know where to find out about whether it is safe to continue breastfeeding your first baby while pregnant with the second? Is it too much of a demand on your body? Could it lead to an increased risk of your body rejecting the foetus? Thanks D
