  1. why she isn't a national treasure I'll never understand PJ Harvey - Big Exit on Later.. and as a sort of follow up to Sean's post, a rather disturbing human league cover involving a ukulele don't you want me
  2. Ha ha, amateur! That'd never have happened in the old days (BF (before flock)), the not getting up I mean
  3. SSK is a lovely album, is that the new PJ Harvey or the amazing White Chalk which I know you're partial to? And you'll love (or maybe already do) the new Bat for Lashes, showing real maturity over her first (which I also enjoyed a lot) Daniel
  4. or maybe they just read it.
  5. You had a thing with DM?!?!? No wonder you freaked when you found she was a brickie from Penge. Sadly I doubt this is the last we've heard, and I'm still not totally convinced she wasn't one of Felicity's multiple personalities.
  6. aaaaah, you were the metallic chap with the painted on dinner suit and twirling bow tie saying "automated response, sutomated response". I was trying to get round to you.
  7. and how do you feel about that? *adopts unfocussed expression, cocks head awkwardly and suddenly to one side*
  8. I think that might be the nicest thing snorky's ever said. I'd have a warm glow if it wasn't for the aircon directly above my desk, I'm off to the bogs for 40 winks!!
  9. Oh yes, and Polly Harvey's new one, gosh what a lot of good new albums out at once
  10. well, they haven't lost their touch for a dark song!!! The Rake ----------- I had entered into a marriage In the summer of my twenty-first year And the bells rang for our wedding Only now do I remember it clear Alright, alright, alright No more a rake and no more a bachelor I was wedded and it whetted my thirst Until her womb start spilling out babies Only then did I reckon my curse Alright, alright, alright Alright, alright, alright First came Isaiah with his crinkled little fingers Then came Charlotte and that wretched girl Dawn Ugly Myfanwy died on delivery Mercifully taking her mother along Alright, alright, alright What can one do when one is widower Shamefully saddled with three little pests All that I wanted was the freedom of a new life So my burden I began to divest Alright, alright, alright Alright, alright, alright Charlotte I buried after feeding her foxglove Dawn was easy, she was drowned in the bath Isaiah fought but was easily bested Burned his body for incurring my wrath Alright, alright, alright And that's how I came your humble narrator To be living so easy and free Expect you think that I should be haunted But it never really bothers me Alright, alright, alright Alright, alright, alright
  11. I was just having a cheap porn gag jibe, my apologies. You get no argument from me on them. Plus I actually thought she was a refreshing change when she came in after the populism and scaremongering of Clarke and the awful awful Blunkett. Still if you take the piss, and she has...
  12. Not often you hear good words said about MPs these days. You're not Richard Desmond are you ;)
  13. I'ev seen him traverse stairs at Denmark Hill with a peculiar singlemindedness so I'd hazard there's more than a little of the cyberman about him.
  14. Great, clearly my knack for picking queues extends to footie :-/
  15. Oh yes, listening, not ranting, I remember. Just did my Fopp spree. New Decemberists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes and Yo La Tengo albums plus a couple of others. Will report back, but Decemberists already shaping up to top their last sublime album!! IO saw the Doves there, but was already knocking on the door of 70 quid and decided to leave it for another day.
  16. Should the rating system on iPod/iTunes (and Sony thingies as it goes) be out of ten rather than 5? I mean, you can't pack the nuances between good and shit with just 5 stars can you. Plus I use the 1 star as a signifier that it was a bad rip and needs to be redone, so really it's out of 4, rubbish.
  17. Gosh..err..eth I hope lo we all get to shareth in your fruitful bounty. Mineths verily a g&t eth
  18. I've had a pop at Adebayor before, but blimey what a goal. And so glad I switched to the Arsenal game at half time, a great deal more entertainment on offer. Sorry for Man U, but I've a soft spot for Porto since seeing them at the Stadio Dragoa (losing to Inter as it happened, but great fans and atmosphere) so well done them, clearly doesn't hurt having a team full of Argies and Brasilians does it, no wonder Portugal are struggling to qualify for the world cup.
  19. Of your first assertions, scientists are happy to continue to talk about global warming as that's exactly the phenomenon that is occurring as we speak. There is literally masses of hard evidence collected over the last 20+ years and continues to be collected supporting the theory, and there are almost no real sceptics left, of course the severity and rapidity of the danger facing us, and the degree to which man made factors are causal are still very much open to debate. Explain 'significant' in how much evidence is suspect or tampered with. Most of the predictions come from sophisticated simulations, if by tampered you mean by feeding data and algorithms into a computer then I supoooose so, and if by suspect you mean incredibly difficult to understand, then granted. But I generally trust the peer reviewed scientific method, certainly enough to take medicines and undergo surgery from more knowledgeable people, so am willing to trust that if the vast majority of scientific experts in meteorology, oceanography and other related subjects believe this to be the case, then I'm game, no matter how depressing it may be. I don't choose to find that suspect just because it's convenient to my thoughts on just one area of science, or because, say, I might like homeopathic remedies. Your latter assertions are entirely irrelevant to the scientific debate, though I totally agree that I would welcome a less emotive nature to the wider debate. ps I think 'climate change' has been latched on by both the scientific community and the media to as a way to aid accessibility to the wider public who may often think 'but it's colder'.
  20. Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not all out to get you. I give up. *edited for incorrect negative*
  21. Not really. I think there a great variety of posters about, and occasionally they hit a brief consensus. I know you're 'song' was posted after one too many, something we've all done and usually regretted. It briefly brought about a consensus of opinion, and though you initially defended it as a bit of a laugh, I've got the impression you've gone away had a think about it and decided it probbly was inappropriate for this environment, and have since joined the ranks of valued contributors. It's not about cliques it's about respecting people's ability to set out a stall and defend it rationally. DD's hysteria has galvanised opinion that there seems to be a lot of fuss about not much and that someone won't let it go. Funnily the more DD has blithered on about cliques and bullies the more people have goaded her, so I can understand her inferences, but that doesn't make them correct, they are in effect self-fulfilling. Of the OP and the reaction I'll grant people are often too quick to shout troll, or *sigh* or boring, but then the older posters are old hands at rooting this out and gawd knows the forum _has_ been beset many times by trolls, by idiots and by many, many occurrences of misrepresentation. People are also pretty good at checking past posts and interpreting new ones in that light, in this case poppy has done herself no favours in the past. It's the old thing about looking at a donkey passing a gap in a fence and eventually working out that the head causes the tail. A narrow viewpoint will often result in an understandable but essentially incorrect conclusion.
  22. Can my dog-hearing superpower detect the sound of a kettle boiling in the distance? Excellent.
  23. Seriously DD, I have tried desperately to see things from your point of you, I have tried to keep some sense of empathy, but your paranoid victim syndrome really does know no bounds, while you actually continue to be rather hostile in your approach. I believe that's called projection. My advice is take a breather. Making a cup of tea and having a deep breath is a vital part of the EDF arsenal (just an opinion, not a rule). If at all possible, let this one lie and, as someone has suggested, start afresh. Maybe consider adding a dash, just a dash, of congeniality coupled with a soup?on of humour to your forum persona, you'll be surprised how far that'll take you. I await your accusations of bullying with some excitement ;)
  24. amen to the death of that one. AS far as I can see DulwichDoll appears hooked on the attention or just can't let things lie, while too many people are getting involved with barbed comments or words designed to needle, and it continues ad nauseum. Of course we could just stop reading it.
  25. Not to say that any comment complained about via PM or reported is destined for removal mind; each one taken on its own merit, but personal effrontery does get a good listen at the very least.
