  1. The lovely lovely Laura Viers, Wrecking
  2. Fair enough, not the most comprehensive rummage by me. Bit wet that, cheaper premiums for all...sigh.
  3. ..and that's Fulham, that I used to go to watch regularly not so long ago down in the lower divisions, now it's all hoyty toyty daft prices.
  4. Has Obamam actually got any concrete policies other than a seemingly earnest desire for change. My socialist mate in the States has been pretty aghast over the last year or so as he's watched the noises from obama get increasingly centrist, conservative and establishment. But actual policies? McCain has his down on his website;yes tired, predictable, depressing and guaranteed to appeal to a huge swathe of middle America, but at least they are there. Obama's own website is chock full of nice noises like "Help Americans Grab a Hold of and Climb the Job Ladder", but really very little actual substance http://www.barackobama.com/index.php
  5. Players seem to reside in a whole nother universe anyway these days and have little regard for what they no doubt refer to as 'the public' think of them. I've decided that 92 quid for 2 restricted view tickets tomorrow is too rich anyhow and will probably stick with the Hamlets until the Hammers reach League 1; I'm severely in danger of falling out of love with the game, at least at its top echelons, it does little for me anymore frankly.
  6. They weren't particularly grindy, nothing compared to level 50-60 on WoW (I dread to think what 60-70, or now 70-80(?) must be like) but it has got a bit farmy of late. Ghibli, is that a phonetic spelling of fish?
  7. "But then all that money and power must be something of a compensation?" You better believe it pumpkin!!!
  8. What, Brendan Bums Baltimore? I thought you won a Glammy award for that.
  9. You can't be anti anything, it's unamerican. What are the anti-gun people called then, pro-sanity? *edit* pro control?
  10. Everton 2 v 0 Liverpool Aston Villa 2 v 0 Sunderland Fulham 1 v 1 West Ham (somewhat optimistically) Man Utd 0 v 0 Bolton Middlesbrough 2 v 0 West Brom Newcastle 0 v 2 Blackburn Stoke City 0 v 3 Chelsea Arsenal 1 v 0 Hull City Portsmouth 2 v 0 Tottenham Wigan 1 v 3 Man City
  11. yep, no problemo. I'm coming up to the final chapter, just need to find 6 suits of armour and 5 steel broadswords (why oh why did I sell them for cash earlier?!?)
  12. Looks great, but no speak the Japanese me. Am playing DQIV at the moment, which is quite fun. I see Secret of Mana is out which would be a good blast from the past.
  13. Quite the most bizarre story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7636577.stm
  14. I may wander down to Fulham tomorrow, may be the last chance to see my team in the football league at this rate. Players to sue west ham. Yeah , my heart f******g bleeds for them, how can they support their coke and wags' shopping habits, poor dears.
  15. Same could be said of Abbott and Costello frankly, and I'm pretty sure they'd have done a better job than Bush and Cheney, who will probably be remembered as one of the worst presidential administrations of all time. A genuinely progressive thinker could actually make this one of the most important administrations of all time by helping the world to put a robust framework for multilateralism in place, cooperation with, not competition with the emerging powers, taking the US state off a permanent war footing and spending the trillions saved on helping to build a more egalitarian society (after all, all men were created equal, inalienable rights etc), and tackling the twin/intertwined evils of global poverty and global warming/environmental catastrophe. Sadly there aren't many Roosevelts in the politics of the modern world. Or either administration could pretty much do more of the same with a little millimetre sized tweak here and there to the left or the right whilst kow-towing to energy companies, big business, the banking system whilst presiding over the greatest gulf between rich and poor in the developed world. Nice to think we could go lead by way of example, but fat (oh dear, fat meaning bad?) chance of that happening with either of the shagsacks on offer.
  16. "can anyone present any sort of case for McCain winning" How do you mean, in support of his winning or arguing that he's going to win? The former: He's not Bush, and Palin's not Cheney. The latter: McCain's going to win.
  17. I gather she had a long chat with Kissinger for a crash course in foreign policy after her 'I'd have nooked rusher'* boob.] Surely the old testament has everything you need to know, and expect a declaration of war on those damn Babylonians anytime soon...oh...wait....aahhhhh...now that explains a lot!! * may have exaggerated a bit, but not much
  18. greasemonkey is a javascript framework that allows you to manipulate pages once they are loaded and do ajax type calls to things like the flickr or google APIs. Basically it allows amateurs out there to write scripts which you load into your firefox browser to enhance the user experience on sites. There are loads of very useful ones for flickr that I use. Extensions are essentially add-ons you can download, again mostly written by the user community, meaning you're not dependent on, say microsoft or Opera to develop new functionality. I've a few such as context translation, mouse gestures, dictionaries, and useful developer tools such as firebug. Here's where you find them if you're curious https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
  19. I've never found Firefox to be particularly slow, though it can get a bit memory hungry at time. I was an opera user for some time and loved it, but firefox extensions, greasemonkey etc tend to swing it for me. Give it a go.
  20. I rather liked this Urban Dictionary definition spod One who obsessively reads all the definitions of a word in the Urban Dictionary, then decides to send in their own definition. Only a spod would send a definition to the Urban Dictionary.
  21. Well, I never, i just thought it meant generally somewhere between bookish and geek... spod (spd) n. Chiefly British Slang One who spends an inordinate amount of time exchanging remarks in computer chatrooms or participating in discussions in newsgroups or on bulletin boards.
  22. I still use queer to mean odd. In fact queer to mean gay (james' gay, not modern schoolground parlance) is a bit old fashioned now isn't it? James, I think everyone's pretty much in agreement that gay shouldn't have been coopted for rubbishness, but you're preaching to the converted here, you need to talk to people under 20 of whom you'll find few examples in these here parts. But again, what can you do, the french tried to legislate for use of language and that got them nowhere, and the moment you tell a child not to do something it becomes de riguer in the playground. Fads pass, I haven't called anyone a joey or ernie for years!!
  23. "the so-called "record-breaking" fine of ?5.5million imposed on West Ham was of course as meaningful as fining Man Utd ?25000 for having 6 players yellow-carded in one game" As a Blades fan you really should know better than to come out with nonsense like that. We are by no means a wealthy team, though we used to be one of the best at balancing the books, at least prior to the ground expansion followed by the drop. Many of today's high profile players are in other teams thanks to that fire sale; we can't even hold on to the likes of Zamora these days (whom I was genuinely sorry to see go, have a lot of time for the boy). I actually do have a great deal of sympathy for your position Simon (funny how we take it all so personally 'my team' 'your position'), but that's a little disingenuous. God knows what's happened to the supposed ?30 million (which isn't a lump sum but a sort of estimate at maintained revenues over the course of a season) but all our ground debt was calculated against maintaining that income prior to our two year premiership hiatus, and I suspect we have very little to show for it bar a slight dent in our debts. A ?30 million cash payment could easily send us the way of Leeds.
  24. Related videos are a bit disturbing, I didn't think NSFW stuff got on to youtube. But very funny.
