  1. I'm pretty certain that I was personally preventing the Camden branch from operating at a loss, so no idea why they haven't been bought. Perhaps they've chosen branches where HMV had no presence or their own branches were struggling.
  2. Cowardly probably not, but I do tend to think that unless mental illness is the cause, it is bloody selfish. I have lost a friend to suicide, and he really had no control, he was experiencing severe delusions, and stepping in front of the train may have been the only we he could take control of his life, perversely. I know a few others whose lost ones didn't have that excuse; the consequent pain, frustration guilt and anger never really go away, and that I find selfish, it's the ultimate **** you and last word rolled into one.
  3. I think the idea is so you can tell how good a potential house might be, in having everything within spitting distance rather than having to rely on a car. Hmm, my office in camden gets 93. Clearly they don't realise that stepping over needles and dead bodies should knock off a point or two.
  4. Of course they clearly haven't told the algorithm that my old house, being mere feet from the CPT, should have been upgraded to 99 ;)
  5. Much as I'd love to write Chelsea off, Jose's too shrewd. I'm going with Man U, I think they're hungry and have added some decent strength to the side. Spurs are my dark horse, Liverpool just can't seem to get it together but could win the cup, though I'd be delighted to see them finish above chelsea. Arsenal are still rebuilding, maybe next season West Ham Man U Chelsea Spurs Arsenal Liverpool obviously only joking about the top spot. Dulwich for promotion? ho ho
  6. Are you sure? It's just using the google maps engine. postcode, right?
  7. This ones not bad 'Scientifically' measuring East dulwich (from my old address anyway) at 58% good. My new address atop dog kennel hill in SE5, is 2% better. In your face Lordship Lane ;) http://www.walkscore.com Tee hee, and letchworth from whence I escaped...24% Bwah hah hah
  8. Indeed, and if you have a hangover it magically transforms the pint into being 'not really drinking'
  9. Sadly that pitch was the only one available. A certain member of the forum was going to book it up a while back, but never quiiiite got around to it, so had a dig around today. Took quite some navigation of the southwark council internal telephone network, such that they thought i was a council worker by the end, but got there eventually. Don't believe the website when it describes the number as the park sports booking hotline!!!!
  10. don't tell me, they were s.p.e.c.i.a.l.i.s.t shops?
  11. Great bump, I was just about to say that I've booked the available third (and rather small, good for us amateurs) cricket pitch at belair park for the 18th, 1pm for a hlaf day game, followed by the pub of course. To answer your question, we've had a lot of interest, but there's a difference between interest and people turning up, as sean and citizen found out in the forum picnic *ahem* So yeah, be delighted if you want to join in the fun. Fear, do we still have the sign up form at the CPT, as according to the paperwork I did today, we're officially the Crystal Palace Tavern Cricket Club?
  12. Thank god the new generation are so lazy! See, consoles are a good thing. If they'd been out playing football and climbing trees all their youth, they might have gone further afield and not been caught.
  13. taken by Keef, Rob Winton and Yorkshire4 respectively *sorry keef, for some reason your photo didn't appear when I did a text search on flickr, i'll add a tag for you*
  14. Top of the hill in far south East Dulwich. It adds to the view from the bottom looking up, but ruins it from horniman gardens looking across london. It always reminds me of Deep Thought in the television version of Hitchikers' Guide.
  15. Ha, of course he does, geordie wit and all that ;) Ooh that's tonight isn't it. I've been roped into doing some IT support for a friend who'd got himself infected, but he said he'd pay me a couple of pints so might pop my head in.
  16. mmm white beer. Yep forgot to mention belgium, the holy land of beer. Used to go to a place in Amsterdam when I lived there called Gollem which served hundreds of the things, each in their correct glass with correct storage and pour. As they regularly were in the 7-12% bracket you could be very wonky when you re-emerged outside.
  17. I'm just hoping to avoid dodgy deals with shady iranians and relegation. First competitive Dulwich Hamlets home match is on the 21st if anyone's up for it?
  18. God you do talk such nonsense Louisa. At the moment we're going through a golden age of independent brewing, of amazing variety and quality. You just need the gumption to go out and look for it rather than sit there saying bah humbug it was better in the old days. *agree fully about lager in pubs, though there are wonderful ones from central europe, spain, south america, asia etc, usually in bottles)
  19. Yeah it's a nice place. Very laid back, more a place for a quiet pint / glass of wine and chat with your mates than a booze fuelled session place. It also does sliiightly posh pub food without the gastro overtones. Quiz on tuesday nights where my music rounds answers are so rubbish, the quiz-master usually laughs out loud, quite embarrassing really.
  20. We're the geeky ones. I'll be wearing my "Jesus is Coming - Quick Look Busy" t-shirt ;) Most people appear at some point in these photos if it helps
  21. I was quite depressed this morning, but this thread has had me laughing out loud. Good luck to you White Stuff I say, though of course you will be the first up against the wall come the revolution ;-)
  22. I grew up with Abbott Ale, but it's too strong for me these days, really it's a posher, bitter equivalent of wife-beater for me, perhaps lady-beater? There's a heather beer that Oddbins used to do that was pretty amazing, but I just love trying real ales. Hoopers do guests, but I'm often to be found lurking around the Market Porter that have a superb throughput of guest ales of varying flavours and quality. And agreed, Germans are past masters at the art, but they're different rather than intrinsically better than English Ale. Lagers can be good too, quite partial to the dryer asian version, buddha jazz do a comprehensive selection in bottles, but your average lager on tap in pubs is really pretty dire! So no particular favourite, variety being the spice of life and all that.
  23. Aha, I think I may know your secret identity then scor!! Can't believe you didn't tell me about Neve, I'd have been quite star struck.
  24. http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=60147&in_page_id=2 Aren't the SLP owned by associated newspapers who own the standard ....and.....the metro!!?
